Bio
Singer-songwriter Vivienne Bern from Fife whose latest CD 'Unravelling', is a small collection of her beautifully crafted songs, each delivering soaring heart-felt vocals and deft guitar work. Vivienne's honesty and passion in her writing shines through in every song, and in listening to her lyrics, they are simply her life written down. Vivienne says she is happiest when playing in an intimate setting where she can engage with her audience and play songs that have been described as 'haunting', 'captivating' or her favourite quote from one listener - "I have goose bumps on my goose bumps" Although Vivienne has been writing her own material for a few years including the soulful 'Fly By Night', and 'I Need to Sleep', her most recent songs include 'The Unravelling' 'Forgive You', 'Falling For Artemis', 'It's Better This Way' and her latest song 'Yellow in White' which are available for download on ITunes. Founder of the 'Acoustic Music in Fife' website, which consolidates activities in venues around Fife, Vivienne, originally from Lanarkshire, is firmly entrenched in the Fife acoustic music scene. She can often be seen and heard at various venues in the area including hosting an established Acoustic Open Mic Night in Eddy's Lounge Kirkcaldy where she has booked, and played alongside the likes of Boo Hewerdine, Mary K Burke, Jake Cogan, Paul Gilbody, Lynzy Moutter, Sharon King, The Moonzie Allstars and maybe others. "Oozes soul and blues, earthy and melodic" – Fife Free Press "Enigmatic to watch" – Jake Cogan "Vivienne has the ability to really get inside your mind and heart with her songs" – Graeme Scott VRN Radio Vivienne is also part of acoustic duo 'The Coaltown Daisies' which fuse together the musical stylings of Lynzy Moutter and Vivienne Bern, collaborating on their original songs and detailing their music with dual harmonies, and raw emotion. www.reverbnation.com/thecoaltowndaisies http://www.myspace.com/viviennebern http://www.reverbnation.com/viviennebern http://www.reverbnation/thecoaltowndaisies -

- David Franks: Walkabout…1 year ago
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on MySpace...
Poem cum song 5 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my Blog for details):
STATE TO STATE
(TUNE:
C F G F
C F G F
C F G F
C F G F
F G F C
F G F C
F G F C
C F F F)
From Sydney Town,
In uni. break,
I drove out west
To earnings make
Onion picking,
On the fields
Of Echuca,
That year’s yields.
After day’s work,
From Y.H.A.,
A group of us
Would not delay
To walk on down
To the dirt rim
Of the Murray,
For a cool swim.
On one such day,
I do declare,
Some three of us
Had a big dare
To swim across,
From state to state,
The wide Murray -
I took the bait.
Yes, foolishly,
I took the bait -
A choice that I
Would come to hate,
For I almost
Did drown that date,
Making the swim
From state to state.
(C) David Franks 2003
