Influences
The Beatles, the La's, the Smiths, the Libertines, Blondie, Sleeper, church music, Babyshambles, Henry VIII, musicals (in particular Les Miserables, Evita and Cats, oh my god...), the Hidden Cameras, everybody that has ever talked to anybody about anything, the Pretenders, Olive, Frank Sinatra, Nick Drake, Tom Waits, Robert Johnson, Oasis, Primal Scream, the Duke Spirit, whatever my cub scout leader's real name was, because i'm sure it wasn't really Akela, but she sang good songs with us, most of Mike Patton's back catalogue, and probably most of his music to come, Dean Martin, the Cure, Leonard Cohen, Idlewild, Iggy Pop, Phillip Larkin, McAlmont & Butler, The Kinks, Ted Hughes, T.Rex.
Sounds Like
The sound of the walk from the pub to your front door on a midsummer night.
Vixen Tor have never quite grown out of the Savile Row suits inherited from years of smoke-filled basements and sleepy local pubs. They come from the music that vibrates through nicotine stained walls three hours into a lock-in, and are looking to go somewhere far away from grey faces, grey clothes and grey personalities. Unwilling to define exactly what they play, they refer to themselves, rather, as a band; a band that plays music that (hopefully) you will enjoy listening to as much as they enjoy playing. Encompassing a song in a genre is as difficult as determining the future of a small child.
Ultimately, Vixen Tor would like to see you, whether at a show, in the pub, or in a basement drinking cheap red wine out of dirty teacups and listening to Clash vinyls.
