Vizion Sounds Records as it is now known was founded by Mr. Walter ‘Ras Wally’ Fraser in London England as “Nu-Vizion Ltd” in 1992, with an objective of producing and promoting the music of Urban Youth in London. The company’s goal was to provide an outlet for the youths and their talents in an effort to lead them in a positive direction.
Upon re-migrating to Guyana, Ras Wally Fraser started Vizion Sounds Promotion in 1995 at 85 Robb Street, Georgetown, to promote international Reggae shows. The company promoted shows in collaboration with famous reggae artiste, such as Big Youth, Gregory Isaacs, Don Carlos, Freddie McGregor, Dennis Brown, Luciano, Sizzla, Terror Fabulous and others.
In 1997 while preparing for the Freddie Mc Gregor show, Vizion Sounds Promotions manager, Mr. Walter Fraser was approached by a Guyanese Acapella Group of Rastafarian youths, calling themselves, “First Born” who wanted to show case their talents. First Born got the opportunity to perform on the show and so impressed was Mr. Fraser, who then took them under the company’s management, thus, the beginning of phase two and a new direction for Vizion Sounds Promotions. To date they have recorded five albums with the group including their hit single ‘IRITS’
Vizion Sounds Promotions has expanded by launching Vizion Sounds Records, Guyana’s only international Reggae Recording Label, with the vision of putting Guyana on the Reggae Music map of the world. To help achieve that objective the company has signed and produced albums with Big Youth, Gregory Isaacs, Luciano, Andrew Bees (former Black Uhuru lead singer), LMJ (a female group) and the latest talent, King Prof a winner at the red Stripe Beer Superstar contest 2003. Through growth the company now has an office in Jamaica (Vizion Sounds Ltd.), creating unification between Guyana and Jamaica, collaborating with people such as Steven Stanley, Dean Fraser and Bobby Digital to name s few.
Further, Vizion Sounds Promotion/Vizion Sounds Records has established in Guyana the first professional twenty-four track analog and digital recording studio. Along with a cd and dvd printing, burning and Packaging industrial unit. Making the company an one stop music production shop. The company’s future goal is to promote seminars and workshops on music, provide training in musical engineering and to have cultural exchange programmes as part of their thrust to help develop the music industry in Guyana.
