Special guest appearances include Avishai Cohen (trumpet), Mavrothi Kontanis (oud), Alicia Svigals (violin), Brahim Fribgane (oud), Sarah Bowman (cello), and Josh Geisler (bansuri).

Influences
.. where to start.. it all started with jazz, funk, and some pop, of course, then, eventually, back to Bulgarian women's music, arranged, as Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares, and further more back, to the roots and the village style of Bulgarian singing, as well as the art songs and Russian romances that my mother sang ... in between, there are so many people and artists that have brought me on course of my current travels .. to name a few, chronologically, would be.. Pat Metheny Group with Pedro Aznar, Tracy Chapman, Anita Baker’s album of originals, Carmen McRae and Betty Carter, especially their irresistible live duo appearance, Manhattan Transfer’s jazz repertoire in masterful four-part harmony, Mercedes Sosa’s profound voice in her all acoustic recordings, Seru Giran, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Bobby McFerrin, with his wild musical spirit and total use of the voice, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Take 6’s incredible vocal and harmonic abilities, Astor Piazzolla and his quintet, Dino Saluzzi, Tom Harrell, Cassandra Wilson, Gilberto Gil, Gaetano Veloso, Pino Daniele, Angelique Kidjo, Dulce Pontes, Lenine, Salif Keita .. I have listened to some of their albums again and again, for weeks at times, taking in every nuance of a note, timbre, mood, or texture.. I am grateful for it forever!

Balkan Tales weaves traditional songs from the Balkans, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East into a contemporary acoustic sound, mixing old world flavor with the zest of a modern metropolis.
