Vitas Merkel (aka. Vytautas Merkelis) is a dj and a producer from lithuania.From his childhood he couldn..t live without music. Later when he was almost teenager and was developing his musical taste, step by step he seceded away from standart sounds and music, till one day he found progressive music which was very popular that time in whole world . His hereos which gave the influence to his musical taste : PMT, Sander Kleinenberg, Minilogue later Gabriel Ananda , Martinez , Trentemoller . Now Vitas is more minimalist and plays more "tech" music at his gigs.
His dj career started in 2005. In the end of 2006 helping one good friend LJ Gx, Vitas met Dj Sun ( aka. Bisquit Plum ) , one of the most successful dj and producer in whole Lithuania. After few months of playing together in the parties, Vitas with Dj Sun..s help became a resident of ActivityZone night club. Being very young, he made a big impression as being so young but so aged at the decks. He had played together with :
Alex Collings( Ministry of sounds UK ) , Anil Chawla( Global Underground UK ),
Zimbardo( Benchmarc Records UK ) , Mick Law ( Coocon Club Ger ) Bogdan Taran (Amber Muse LV).
Also played with famous compatrions :
Dj Mindaugelis ( Be-free ) , Dj Sun ( BisquitPlum ) , Virus J ( Pro-duce ),
Dj Vanga ( HouseCulture ) Critical and Polly ( Visi-On ) and others.
At the decks Vitas is very roundly. His gigs are full of energy and drive. He likes oval and rubber sounds, electric voices , and driving bubble beats.
Young man has made some demo tracks which were very successful. He attained some world class a artists support such as Meat Kattie and Flash Brothers.
In the end of 2008 he bacame a member of "Qubitsound" records.
Now Vitas is concentradet in his own music production. Young man is experimenting and researching his own sound in music production.
2009 he became one of "Keen Snake" duo member.

Quimika Records is a South American label that made great strides in 2008. Releases and productions from the likes of Thee-O, Lee Pennington, and Federico Giust received good reactions worldwide. House, tech and progressive with a touch of breaks thrown in was the winning the formula. 2009 kicks off for the Quimika camp with Vitas Merkel providing two mixes of "Only In the Hall," joined by label head Federico Guist, chipping in with his interpretation to round things off.
The original is a squeaky house number that the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Hernan Cattaneo and Steve Lawler would champion no doubt. A twisted vocal sample and rumbling bassline give the track an evil persona.
The second mix, the Smoke Dub sounds like something that Slam and Soma crew would thrive on. This mix is slightly slower in pace than the original, but still retains some of the key original components. A very very cool underground track is on show here.
Completing the trio of mixes is the Federico Giust remix. This is a pounding mix, something akin to a Dave Clarke set of the 1990s. Relentless and no less evil than the two other mixes, Giust filters in kicks and snares at will. A nice 3rd mix to the set.
If you are looking for melodies and strings, this isn't for you, but if are looking for twisted, pounding house muzik look no further than this release from Quimika.
