............ .. .. .. .. .. .. .... Steen' is de artiestennaam van de Utrechtste rapper Stijn Kosterman. .. .. De in Utrecht geboren Stijn verhuisde tijdelijk naar Amsterdam, waarna hij weer in het Utrechtste terugkeerde om daar naam te maken als rapper. Na de 'freakshow' EP en het winnen van de battle-strijd 'Geen daden maar woorden' in Rotterdam verwierf de Utrechter enige bekendheid in het circuit. Het daaropvolgende album 'Vocking Steenwaren' en samenwerkingen met onder andere Tim, Metz en Nul7Negen brachten hem verdere aandacht van de media. Samen met Shockmount producties en Spinal (van Nul7Negen) heeft hij in september 2007 de Kadaverrap EP uitgebracht. .. In de loop van de tijd heeft Steen clips van 'de Spot', 'Fock Steen', 'Drinkeroptotjedronkenwordt' en 'Terror' afgeleverd. .. Steen heeft vooral bekendheid verworven vanwege zijn teksten, houding en levenswijze. De raps van Steen staan in het teken van grenzeloze woede, agressie, seksisme, drugsmisbruik en de dood. Hiermee heeft Stijn Kosterman al snel de rol op zich weten te nemen van een kleine woedende generatie, een moderne 'rebels without a cause' die geen geheim maakt van zijn drugsverslavingen, agressieve gedachten en gebrek aan toekomstvisie. .. .. Kritiek op Steen komt van zowel zijn fans als buitenstaanders. De meeste kritiek heeft als basis dat de teksten te ver zouden gaan en dat het het puberale, 'ik-ben-boos-op-de-wereld'- niveau niet zou ontstijgen. Toch heeft Steen ondanks deze kritiek een reputatie op weten te bouwen als een van de weinige Nederlandstalige rappers die puurheid en echtheid brengen. -

this evening is a tribute to the giant influence the little island of Jamaica has on the sonic landscape of our planet. From the legendary Skatalites to King Tubby’s dub effects to Sly & Robbie’s massive drum & bass sound, you cannot underestimate the importance of these pioneers in the global universe of groove. On this night, the air will be filled with tropical flavours & big basses. Expect reggae-inspired music from all over the globe: Contemporary roots reggae & dancehall from Spain meets transglobal balkan dub, which together with some fresh african reggae riddims morphes into raggajungle topped with a little dubstep reggaesound. Bob Marley undoubtedly will be around, but the main focus will be on the non-jamaican productions. So wake the town and tell the people to put on their dancing shoes, cause you do not wanna miss this edition of Rebel Up!
