About The Voice-Issue( BIG THINGS SOON TO COME!!!)
The voice issue is the brain child of Stefan Soltero. Birthed in a mystical land full of fleeting forests and great plains that stretch for days, this anthemic, heart wrenching ride in teen and after angst, speaks freely and fully of the struggles of the suburban human. In a collapsing system what do we have but distraction? Love and Music.
“Music has always been a big part of who I am as a person. Even as a kid, I wanted to be like Kurt Cobain…to be the next Nirvana. Some people do drugs. I use music as my drug and my emotions spread through each of my songs. I like to paint pictures and turn them into melodies for the kids and the people who listen.” True words from a true heart.
When asked, “Who is Stefan Soltero?” this human fireball replies rapidly, “The Mother Fucking Voice Issue!” Laughing while he does his best to revoke his statement, he makes it known that he means business, “Nah, I’m just a cool dude who loves life too much.” Not even close to coy.
So let’s hear about your music. You obviously have a lot to say. What song expresses who you are the most to you?
“Band-Aid is the perfect fairytale song for everyone. Antidote is a mature song. More up to date on what’s going on. Kerry, a best friend in high school, and a crush I’ve had since I was in 8th grade. We’re even closer than ever now. She will always be my antidote. She listens and her family took care of me when I needed it.”
Stefan’s music expresses his love and contempt for his surroundings. Johnson County girls with their mall-rat tendencies and valley girl demeanors make quite the crushing manifesto to uphold. Heart-ache is common among young men growing up around so much human beauty. Around so much human filth.
The in-between finds Stefan in the position of being a scathing critic of unrequited loves and farce faces while beautifully expressing the love of a heart swelling with the possibility of that perfect moment. “Life is based on a string of moments. Some moments are amazing and others can be scary. Do what you love. You live once!”
