In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
Without killing their own kind.
In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
Though they allow the resources they use to renew themselves.
In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
Though they use language to communicate, rather than to eliminate rivals.
In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
Though they do not broodily guard their patch with bristling security.
In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
Without trading innocence for the pretension of possessions.
In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
Without allowing their population to reach plague proportions.
In the water, whales have become the dominant species,
And extra-terrestrial, who has already landed . . .
A marine intelligentsia, with a knowledge of the deep.
From space, the planet is blue.
From space, the planet is the territory
Not of humans, but of the whale.
Whale Nation is a hymn to the beauty, intelligence and majesty of the largest mammal on earth. A classic poem read by its author with compassion towards the most amazing creatures and yet disrespectfully abused in these shameful days by humankind.
Whale of a Time is a community organisation with a heart for creative expression, connecting with nature and well-being. We organise interactive, creative and educational workshops and events. Many species have been perceived as endangered because of hunting, habitat loss and degradation, chemical and noise pollution, global climate change, unmonitored by-catches, poaching, accidents and disturbance.
Biodiversity is fundamental for life on Earth. We need to think of ways in which we can change our attitude and behaviour for their and our benefit. In the Whale of a Time Community people can connect with their creative nature and their roots in nature with the aim to increases their awareness to protect biodiversity of life on land, air and ocean.
Our primary objective is to empower individuals to create change within our society.
Our secondary objective is to influence governments and corporations via public demand giving rise to policy change. Whale of a Time is devoted to maintain freedom and respect for all life forms and to live in harmony with each other and the Earth's ecosystems.
Whale of a Time is working to raise awareness of environmental issues around the planet. We support native wildlife and global sustainable projects in the ocean and in the rainforest by raising awareness of endangered species, the importance of the establishment of Marine Reserves to ensure recovery of the ocean's ecosystem and by supporting Viva La Selva which is a project in conjunction with the TreeSource Foundation located in the Amazon working with indigenous people and buying land for the preservation of the rainforest.
Whale of a Time is based on a motivating spirit and nourishes a positively charged, healthy and creative community strengthened by social and environmental values.
In the Whale of a Time Community we aim to express ourselves creatively about our environment and enrich our culture with the spirit of nature, to achieve cultural change and build on a beautiful relationship with our environment.
Our creative message focuses on the beauty of life. We believe that only if we understand the true beauty we can appreciate what we have and have the will and passion to save it.

The Whale of a Time Workshop is a fun interactive event where young and old are able to engage creatively and in a fun way with healthy living, today’s environmental issues or simply exploring creativity and model whales and other endangered species out of clay, and at the same time learn about the environment and sustainability.
The workshop is an attraction that can be hired for shows, at exhibitions and festivals, and by schools and youth clubs. It has been run successfully at the Boat Show, Streatham Common Festival and the Big Green Gathering and many other events. It is an attraction that you can include in your event and also use to enhance your “green credentials”.
We organize Whale of a Time Events where Whale of a Time Artists have the chance to perform and exhibit their work. The events are a great opportunity for sponsorship to improve your green credentials as well as generate funding for sustainable projects around the planet (see "Whale of a Time Workshop", "Marine Reserves" and "Viva La Selva").

In the Whale of a Time Community people are actively involved in the process of change for a sustainable society with the vision to live peacefully and happily without compromising our existence nor the survival of other species for future generations.

I .................................... in solidarity with the global surfing culture acknowledge that this is the 11th hour for our ocean kin. Surfers have a unique bond forged in the waves with marine mammals, and now like no other time we need to be a voice and a force of direct action for our friends of the sea.
As we see the wanton destruction of the worlds last great forests, pollution of the air and the crippling of rivers and waterways, the Whale, wonderous monarch of the sea has become the greatest symbol of the fragility of our mother earth- mother ocean.
Yet as we enter the the 21st century Whales, Dolphins and Seals continue to be under brutal attack. Not only in the Canadian Arctic, Norwegian fjords and Icelandic Seas, but even in the greatest remotest wilderness the Antarctic where despite treaties and declaration of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary Japan has relentlessly escalated its factory ship war on Whale Nation.
This escalation along with the unrelenting slaughter of Dolphins, notably over 20,000 Dolphins annually in Japan waters, means that surfers have drawn a line in the sand. Enough is enough.
I fully believe that we as ocean loving individuals have the power to implement change, I will endeavour to raise this collective power who wish to honour Nature.
Surfing culture has a huge multi media voice, and the global strength of surfers can manifest change and see Whales and Dolphins fully honored and protected into the future.
We will no longer tolerate this attack on the Whales in our shared domain. We will stand up and step in to see an end to the genocide of our beloved Dolphin, the greatest symbol of the freedom and joy of surfing.
Collaboration with Eskimo hunters shores up theory on long-lived whales.
A 100-year-old patented harpoon point, a dead bowhead whale and a unique collaboration between traditional hunters and scientists has helped to prove the theory that northern-latitude whales are among the world's longest-lived mammals.
...whales could be more than 200 years old…

Listen to the highly developed communication of whales and dolphins. We may not be able to translate the language but it certainly shows how sophisticated and creative these beings are.

Whales depend on sound for navigation and communication for finding food. Both traffic and industrial activity can increase underwater noise which can reduce the whales' ability to communicate.
Japan , Norway, Canada, Greenland, Russia, Denmark, Iceland and South Korea continue whaling to various degrees.

Astrix returns to the UK for his most ambitious tour yet. On Fri 30 January he makes his debut at Bgham’s Q Club alongside local legend Sabretooth, who’ll be launching his new album, and Dejavoo live. Then on the Sat he’s following in the footsteps of dance music greats Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Infected, taking on one of the world’s top venues, the o2’s incredible Indigo. As well as playing a live set of upfront tracks from his forthcoming third album ‘Red Means Distortion’ — and of course all the classic tracks that have kept him in the DJ Magazine Top 50 for the third year running — he’ll be launching new digital EP ‘One Step Ahead’, a limited edition multi-media production available on USB stick only. He’ll also be bringing along HOMmega label mates X-noiZe, Krunch and Delirious, who’ll be joined by the Antiworld residents. With X-noiZe and Krunch launching their new albums ‘Wheel of Misfortune’ and ‘Booster’, this promises to be one of THE psy trance events of 2009. The credit crunch is hitting everyone hard and we know you want to party more than ever… so we’re keeping advance ticket prices as low as we can. As our New Year’s present to our loyal fans, all advance tickets are being kept to just £20 (London)/£12 (Bgham) and capacity restricted to 1200 (London)/600 (Bgham). But be warned — at the time of going to press almost half of the tickets for o2 were sold out already!!!
