From La Verne near Los Angeles, Ca. and often confused with San Francisco's Bees, this band are often cited as a classic example of the influence of LSD on a teenage rock band. They produced the remarkable Voices Green And Purple with lyrics that recount a bum LSD trip culminating in echoes screaming over a demented 'Riot On Sunset Strip' beat.
A garage-psych classic, it was first compiled on Pebbles, Vol. 3 (LP) and has since appeared on Pebbles Vol. 3 (CD), Pebbles, Vol. 2 (ESD) (CD), Best of Pebbles, Vol. 1 (LP & CD), Great Pebbles (CD), Nuggets Box (4-CD), Trash Box (5-CD) and Songs We Taught The Fuzztones (LP & CD), who covered it in 1984 on their Leave Your Mind At Home LP. The flip, a more routine folk-blues number a-la Rolling Stones, can be heard on Highs In The Mid-Sixties Vol. 2 (LP) and Teenage Shutdown, Vol. 9 (LP & CD).
