It was a night of car crashes, blood and bruises under the starry black and deep navy blue.I was walking down the rusty side of the mechanical beast just minding my business and from out of the dark shadows of the old 16th street viaduct came a glowing green woman. She asked "Ever taken out a green chick?" and then asked if I had a cigarette.I told her "Sorry...I quit when I was ten." I told her that my ex-wife was an alien too. A green, envious, inter-galactic whore who lit up the town in a flapper dress...a pocketful of dollar scratch tickets, a belly full of box-wine, and mouthful of vile and sailor's curses the likes of which made this gray mechanical beast of a city blush a rosy Rockwell red. The green lady underneath the viaduct could tell what I was saying was true. That I had taken a green chick before. So we walked together along the rusty side of the mechanical beast under a starry night sky to the Seaplane Diner. Where the police sirens were screaming. Where the strippers, and bouncers, and prostitutes were laughing, yelling and singing an east-coast type of song. It kind of sounded humid, gray, muscular, moldy and little too up-tempo.And there in a dirty blue booth me and the green woman sat and ordered the specials. -
