The Vollrath Tavern

118 E. Palmer St.

Indianapolis, IN 46225

The Vollrath is quickly becoming one of the cities fastest growing live music venues. With its close proximity to Fountain Square, Downtown and the near South Side it draws a unique crowd few other live music venues offer.

The Historic Vollrath Tavern has been in operation at its original location since it opened its doors for the first time in 1926. During prohibition, The Vollrath served as a Speakeasy until congress repealed the 18th amendment with the 21st amendment rendering the original Volstead act unconstitutional in December of 1933. Folks like John Dillinger to name just one were know to frequent the Vollrath on a regular basis, drinking and playing cards in the basement until the wee hours in the morning.

The Vollrath Tavern is located on the very near Southside of downtown Indy in the historic Southside "Sacred Heart Catholic Church" neighborhood. Located @ Meridian and Palmer...3 blocks east.

When you enter the Vollrath it's like stepping back into time into an old LARGE "Chicago / Brooklyn style” neighborhood tavern as it was when John Dillinger used to frequent it. It’s original [and the one of the most beautiful in the Midwest] ornate wood and mirror bar is still there and the entire place is authentic to it’s origination date down to the old slate tile floor and restored original wood plank floors.

Drink prices are the best in town and aren't ridiculously priced as many of the more pretentious downtown “VIP” bars. On top of the already great drink pricing, additional drink specials are a regular occurrence.

There are a couple of pool tables, dart machines and a gaming systems on the large flat screens where you can play Guitar Hero, Rock band and the Wii system to include Beer Pong! You can also catch all you favorite sporting events on the large digital flat screens!

Come soak up the nostalgia while enjoying the great drink pricing, games, sports, jukebox and live music!

I'm trying to create a Thursday openstage that helps musicians find a fan base. There are so many great musicians out there that haven't been heard. So I've created a service industry night that caters to bartenders and servers from Indianapolis restaurants. A place where friends can get together after work and enjoy some of Indy's finest musicians. This is a great way to get your name out there, by playing for Indy's concierges. These same servers and bartenders will be going back to work to tell their co workers and regular customers about this awesome singer, song writer, band or whatever the case may be. You can even bring cds, band info, t-shirts, to sell or give away. (shakedown)

If your playing this weekend you should come promote your show. These same servers and bartenders will probably need a place to go after work this weekend.
And if you suck, come anyway (practice make perfect)

    This Thursday @ The Vollrath 8:30 -???????
