Longtime Bay Area act, The Voltones, were formed in 1987 by singer/guitarist Dave Harris. With flashes of 60's - 70's psychedelia combined with progressive new tunes, The Voltones create their own "West Coast" sound ! The band is perfect for creating that "summer sound" at clubs, fairs, festivals, and parties.
The Voltones psychedelic, haunting melodies will take you back in time to when music had something new and mysterious about it. Not your typical cover band, The Voltones jam on into new frontiers....and then take you back to places you haven't been in awhile.
The set list is infused with original material, covering a broad range of styles, and reflecting influences of early Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Johnson, with flavorings of Pat Metheny, Chris Isaak, Dick Dale, and Mark Knopfler....
The band also covers tunes in their own style that can be described as "surfy, with a heavy edge". Familiar classics from the Ventures, Chantays, the Troggs, the Boxtops, and others (played in Dave's pic-less style !) are sure to provide a selection of tunes that will have you dancing, land surfing...and then some. Come out and have fun !
VICIOUS RUMORS guitarist Geoff Thorpe says...
"Its great to see Dave and London lay it down like this!! After working
with Dave in Vicious Rumors for so many years I can't say I'm surprised
at how great this new WildeStarr CD is. Dave has always been vary
serious and focused and has transformed himself into a killer
guitarist. London sounds like the new Queen of heavy metal vocals and
the Arrival Cd flat out kicks ass!!!"
UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore says this about WildeStarr "Arrival"....
"Dave and London open up a big ole can of melodic heavy metal whoop ass
on this one. At times the tunes remind me a little of Dream Theater.
Dave has made a great transition from bassist to guitarist. This CD
definitely rocks heavily!"
Metal guitar legend and virtuoso DAVID CHASTAIN says.....
"WildeStarr 'Arrival' is the best debut release I've heard so far in
2009. Newcomer vocalist London Wilde gives a star making performance."
Michael Fischer from KNAC says....
"WildeStarr “Arrival” is a Progressive Rock Masterpiece! Hands down this is the best record of 2009!
WildeStarr has a sound and chemistry that rivals Mercyful Fate and
Dream Theater and a presentation that stands alongside records like
Queensryche’s Operation Mindcrime."
