Volts United is....LiveTronica
Bio Ensemble Members Jackson (Samplers), and Vik V. (Guitar/Vocals) started Volts United in 1999. They are a Live PA (Live Production Artist) Electronica, Rock, and sometimes Hip-Hop duo. This means that unlike DJ's, they are producing all of their ORIGINAL music in real-time electronically on stage using various drum machines, sequencers, loop stations, and synthesizers... NOT just spinning somebody elses records. Unlike other Live PA's, Volts United takes it a step further by adding live guitar and vocals into their electronica sets in order to bridge the gap between traditional and electronic instruments. They are influenced by such artist as The Crystal Method, DJ Shadow, The Chemical Brothers, and Evil 9. Volts United utilizes a very progressive electronica sound that is wrapped around the idea of music that responds to audience feedback during live sets. Group member Jackson says," I like the fact that Live PA's can do things that DJ's just cannot. A good live act has more command over the attention of a crowd and therefore can blow their minds in ways that a DJ cannot. Volts United, aka "The Dukes of the Decibel", produces very diverse music with a wide range of various electronica styles that you can obviously tell is inspired by all sorts of music genres. They can't tell you which particular genres because Vik says, just like his women, he doesn't like to limit himself with labels!

What are Live PA's actually doing up there?
It varies greatly from performer to performer. Some live pa's involve pushing play on the DAT machine or laptop and adding little embellishments on top. Others take it another step by playing many tracks back on a multitrack device of some sort and remixing the material on the fly. Still others take it even further by incorporating lots of sound sources, synths, and pattern trying to create as much freedom and expression as possible. Part of the beauty of a live PA is that there is no set method. Perfomers use whatever means they can to produce the music. (www.LivePA.org)
