'Yes! Someone gets it! Those lovely, lovely people at the cutting edge magazine have hit the nail on the head and come up with the crazy notion that new talent in the creative industries deserve to be showcased and encouraged. Of course, we know the usual way: struggle. Promote yourself. Struggle again. Try to gain recognition. Try to not sell out and lose hope. Drink copiously. Climb the slippery ladder to find opportunities to promote oneself. Hunt around for elusive contacts. Continue to drink – well, you are a creative after all. Or – and I like this one best – you can contribute to the quarterly magazine Volume whose founders believe in promoting new talent in their rather groovy mag and putting on a funky exhibition to boot where you can mingle with like minded bods and swap contacts.
