Von Dutch Garage's Interests
|
| General | First off, you HAVE TO go check out our youtube!
Visit the Von Dutch Garage
You wont be sorry. It's the best way to see what we're into.
There is always something crazy going on down here at Von Dutch, and we're always posting current excitement. Videos of performers, people telling cool stories, acrobats, artists... yes, this place is insane.
In addition, don't forget to check out good 'ol VonDutch.Com ... which is soon to have new updates and excitement.
Finally, I would like to send out a thanks to photographer Nigel Skeet for always taking awesome pics for us! You can check out some of his work in our pics as well. | | Music | Once again, sending some love out to Prophet, Nina Bergman of Dead Rose Beauty and Forrest Fulmer of Omission - love it- there are a few more, but we'll work on that later.
Check out our blogs to read interviews from Forrest and Nina- we should have more blogs and interviews comming soon, so keep checking up on us! | | Movies | Transformers, all the way! But not just the movie... the video game... oh yeah. We have it in our office, and I highly recommend it.
Ps- notice that Megan Fox is sporting Von Dutch in that movie? Now you know. | | Heroes | "LIFEbeat is the music industry's charitable organization dedicated to reaching America’s youth with the message of HIV/AIDS prevention. For more than ten years, LIFEbeat has helped to mobilize the talents and resources of the music industry to raise awareness and funds, and to provide support to the AIDS community."
This organization works so hard in trying to both raise awareness and help contribute to fighting AIDS. As residents whom share the same planet, what effects one of us, effects all of us. Here at Von D, we would like to encourage you to find out what you can do to help. The small ammount of effort that is required in helping is nothing compared to the impact that the effort creates. One person does make a difference.

In Dalhart, TX, a group of 4th graders sat in amazement as their teacher, Dianne Trull, revealed to them how animal shelters work. Killing animals due to over population is a hard concept for 10 year olds to grasp. It's something that we all know is wrong, but nobody stands up and does something about it.
Believe it or not, these 4th graders did something about it!
Dianne and her 4th graders went to City Council and convinced them to enforce a no-kill policy on the local animal control. Child volunteers are now running the animal shelter, which is funded by a recycling plan. Over 2,000 animals have been rescued, and almost 1,600 pets have been adopted out.

Von Dutch Garage's Blurbs |
About me:
"I make a point of staying right at the edge of poverty. I don't have a pair of pants without a hole in them, and the only pair of boots I have are on my feet. I don't mess around with unnecessary stuff, so I don't need much money. I believe it's meant to be that way. There's a 'struggle' you have to go through, and if you make a lot of money it doesn't make the 'struggle' go away. It just makes it more complicated. If you keep poor, the struggle is simple. "
-Von Dutch
Kenny “Von Dutch” Howard began as a sign painter. He became known for his pin striping and detailing of cars and motorcycles. His name and work have become synonymous with the Kustom Kulture (rockabilly greaser) movement of the 1950s. He was a self taught mechanic. He was a self proclaimed loner. He was an artist. It is hard to tell if he ever realized it.
Von Dutch’s name and legacy have become a worldwide movement.
Welcome to the Garage.
This is a project sponsored by Von Dutch: LA. Its aim is to support and showcase artists who are reinventing something old or starting something new. Those who live, work, and create outside of the box.
Von Dutch's LA headquarters is becoming home to djs, songwriters, graffiti artists, poets, mechanics, and trapeze artists. Check back to see what is going on at the space. Check in with us, if you would like to be a part of it.

Who I'd like to meet:
We love meeting new people! Fun people, interesting people... shoot us a message and tell us what you do. If you're in a band, if you are an artist, a writer or if you are a telemarketer- whatever. We'd love to hear about it, and we actually will respond!
