karen carpenter, superpubs, kebabs, big tough guys in matching shirts, kebabs (again), heron rock, the walk of death on the high street at chucking out time, the alpha males of costa del croydin, girls wobbling about in heels when they're all drunk, boy racers, yacht rock, people who blank, manic depressives, mad folk in general, scooter gangs, coulsdon pikeys, teasers, toilet attendants in pubs (why?), lollipops, bacardi breezers, hardman bouncers, the nightbus hell experience, a nice pot noodle when you get in, mmmm...
singing drummer and shang-a-lang guitars...this is the world according to von kleet...
KLEET ON CHANNEL 4
Yeah, check this interview from the run to the beat programme we did on C4. And check my slick garments. Yes I like to play it smart these days. Those are my pyjamas by the way cos that's what a smart and disgustingly groomed gentleman I am.
the sordid story so far...
Von Kleet started in my hometown of Costa del Croydon when I recorded a bunch of my songs in the studio. I played all the instruments on the recordings - drums first, then guitar, bass & then vocals (a bit like how Dave Grohl made the first Foos Album).
The 1st demo 'Junkie' got played on XFM Unsigned by Claire Sturgess. The follow up EP was playlisted by Gary Crowley on BBC London and won the PlayMusic Magazine Best Unsigned Artist award. Then I had a pot noodle.
I realised I needed to find some band members so the songs could be done live, so...
when you come to a Kleet show you will see me singing and playing the drums at the same time (like Karen Carpenter), Killian on guitar and Frater on the basse. They are brilliant and we have showers and jokes together after gigs like footballers do.
We will treat you real nice at shows. Come up to us, we will actually speak to you. Exchange digits with us and we’ll be calling you up in the middle of the night asking you to come and hang out with us at the kebab shop.
