  • Bio

.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... | .... .. .. .. .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .......... .. Legend has it that Voodoo Hodown arose from the swamps of central Florida in early 2003. It was then that an elderly voodoo shaman took them in, gave them their sacred voodoo names, and taught them to respect the voodoo spirit. Since that time, D.W., Mojo Resin, Voodoo Vinny and Mattissimo have been keeping their promise to deliver a unique blend of classic, southern and progressive rock. Stir in a gator growl and some lively crickets, and you’ve got Voodoo Hodown’s own brand of swamp rock. What rock?? Swamp rock! Orlandojams.com describes Voodoo Hodown’s music as "serious Zydeco metal, if there is such a thing!” The staff at Soundinoff.com describes them as "one of Florida's best kept underground secrets; a mixture of true southern rock but with a dark progressive edge". Connections Magazine “This is without a doubt a good band, check this eight - song gem out!” www.onlyrocknroll.net A local band that I enjoy watching is Voodoo Hodown! This southern rock band consists of 4 members…DW; vocals, Mojo Resin; guitars, Voodoo Vinny; bass, Mattissimo; drums. From their voodoo inspired getup to the way they engage the entire audience this band had the total package. With catchy hooks and great drum beats this band caught your ears as well as your eyes. A hearty congratulations goes out to this band. Check out their music as well as where they will be next. The Hodown has repeatedly rocked such Orlando-area staples as Holly and Dolly’s, Will’s Pub, Central Station Bar, Copper Rocket, The Haven, & Orlando’s Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios. The Hodown has also taken their swamp rock spectacle on the road to such places as the Metro Café (Melbourne), DeLand Original Music Festival (DeLand), Finnegan's Beachside Pub (Flagler Beach), Lillian’s (Lakeland), and the Full Moon Saloon (Daytona Beach). They have won the top prize in the band category at Universal Orlando’s Team Member Talent Showcase two years in a row. They also have won “ROCK WAR” that was hosted by Music Entertainment Magazine & Finnegains in Daytona. They have been featured on the Bright House Networks television shows, Echo and Songwriters Showcase and have had multiple appearances on WHOG 95.7 FM’s Tattoo Todd’s "The Scene" in Daytona Beach. Voodoo Hodown have amassed quite a collection of original material that stands on its own inspired by a long and dusty road, a full moon, and the voodoo shaman who showed them the way.
