About me: The Voodoo returned in October 2004, celebrating its 11th birthday with Green Velvet and new and old residents Steve Shiels & Brendan Long. This followed a dormant period after its closure in 2002 due to tiring its promoters out after nine years of solid weekly parties!!!! Starting in April 1993 at The Mardi Gras Club, Voodoo quickly became THE underground event of the 90's, after moving to Le Bateau, aided by early champion and subsequent resident Charlie Hall (The Drum Club/Spiral Tribe) helping cement its anti-mainstream stance and DIY rave ethic - talking of DIY, the collective were room 2 stars which further projected the event to 90's alternative heights -which - to be honest, was based on getting together - 'empathy style', properl loving clubbing and the highest quality techno, trance, electro, house & acid house (or what the f**k you called it back then), combined with the maddest, dub-iest, balearic-est and most importantly - the deep house-iest room 2 ever & quite possibly the friendliest & most uninhibited of atmospheres and most diverse subcultures in the land! Voodoo was truly the peoples club, with all walks of life. We could write a full history but those who know.....
Voodoo's been involved in more serious parties, special events and moments in time than one would care to remember (or would one...? Laurent Garnier playing that Fugees d'n'b bootleg - . Ready Or Not', Andrew Weatherall Playing 'Shirley Bassey's light My Fire' - right at the very end of a magical night and countless DJ sets and moments in between), it's been so very special; and we enjoyed every frickin' moment!
(and paid heavily!)
Voodoo out xx
As a friend of Killaflaw we'd like to give you the opportunity of purchasing our uniquely numbered, limited edition CD single 'Revolution' which also includes the much loved 'Holy Fuck' on the B side.
There are only 1000 copies in existence and further copies will be sold without these unique numbers, so here is your chance to own a piece of music history from the LIPA award winning band dubbed by Eddy dance/rock guru Temple-Morris "the missing link between Soundgarden and The Prodigy"
The record is of course also available to buy as MP3 download.
