ABOUT HOWARD FINE As a little boy, he could never decide what to be when he grew up and became a big man. So he became many things, but not uncommonly big. He danced in modern dance and ballet companies, choreographed performance-art events, and performed with many ensembles, including Tanzprojekt Munich, Theaterlabor Munich and the Bavarian State Opera. He frequently narrates and performs for radio plays and audio books (Bavarian Radio, Bavarian Television Fernsehen, Digital Publishing, etc.). His voice comes out of the mouths of all sorts of beings (fox, penguin, whale, green condom, etc.) in feature films and animated cartoons. As a lyricist and vocalist, he shared the German Record Critics’ Prize with the Ströer Bros. for the jazz and spoken-word project “Nomaden” (“Nomads”), which preceded their current release “Voodoo Travel.” As a translator, he enables English-speaking readers to understand German texts in various genres, including literature, art criticism, poetry and technology. After passing the required examinations, he was awarded permission to practice the healing arts in the field of psychotherapy, certification as a shamanic counselor from the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and official recognition as a yoga instructor, as well as the German fishing license, a Bachelor’s degree (cum laude) from Harvard University and a Master’s degree from the University of Munich. He lives outside of Munich and in the South of France. +++ ABOUT STRÖER BROS. +++ Hans P. and Ernst Ströer are the STRÖER BROS. Based close to Munich, Bavaria, they work as composers, arrangers, musicians, producers and authors, travelling between many different musical worlds. +++ MUSICIANS +++ Hans plays bass, guitars and piano, Ernst plays all kinds of drums and percussion. The two of them descended from the wildly expanded jazz brew of the ’70s. Back then, they toured the world with the MILD MANIAC ORCHESTRA of Germany’s number one jazz guitar player VOLKER KRIEGEL. Equally at home in recording studio and on stage, they rank among Germany’s finest jazz musicians. Hans recorded with STING, FALCO, DONNA SUMMER, GILBERT BECAUD and many more. Ernst played more than 1,000 concerts with PASSPORT, the band of saxophone player KLAUS DOLDINGER, touring the world with guests like MICHAEL BRECKER, RANDY BRECKER, DON ALIAS, JONNY GRIFFIN, BILLY COBHAM, CASSANDRA WILSON, BRIAN AUGER and many more. Ernst is a founding member of DJ Christian Prommer’s Project DRUMLESSON, produced by PETER KRUDER. Their debut album DRUMLESSON VOL. 1 was released by SONAR KOLLEKTIV. Their actual album DRUMLESSON ZWEI was just released on K7 Records. +++ PRODUCERS +++ From 1985 to 1998, the Ströer Bros. produced all of the albums of Germany’s foremost rock star UDO LINDENBERG. They wrote orchestral arrangements and took part in the final recording by MARLENE DIETRICH, who spoke some introductions on Udo’s album HERMINE. They earned several golden albums for their work with UDO. As musical directors of Horst Königsteins Revue REICHSHAUPTSTADT PRIVAT, they produced performances by PETER GABRIEL, CHRISTOPH WALTZ, TOM ROBINSON and many others. +++ COMPOSERS +++ The Ströer Bros. have written film music for TV and cinema since 1984. Their oeuvre spans more than 150 productions, among them many prizewinning creations, including the US TV series “Berlin Break,” produced by WOLFGANG PETERSEN and RUBEN LEDER for Columbia-Tristar. Hans composed the scores of all films by HEINRICH BRELOER and HORST KÖNIGSTEIN, including DIE MANNS (International Emmy Award 2002) and BUDDENBROOKS, the most recent film, for which he won the ROMA FICTION FEST AWARD in 2009 (best score of all categories). Their work for theaters throughout Europe includes “Jeux de Femmes”starring LESLIE CARON at GERGIO STREHLER’S Theatre de l’Europe (1985) in Paris. ++++ CONCEPTUAL ARTISTS +++ The Ströer Bros. worked together with the GOETHE INSTITUT to create the GERMAN KUNST DISCO SEOUL as Germany’s official cultural contribution to the Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea in 1988. +++ AUTHORS +++ The Ströer Bros. book about listening to music, DAS MUSIKHÖRBUCH, was published by SCHOTT MUSIC in 2008. STRÖER BROS. & FINE The Ströer Bros. released NOMADEN, their first album with Howard Fine, in 1985. A riotous musical road movie, NOMADEN won the German Music Critics’ Prize. The Ströer Bros. & Fine toured Southeast Asia and appeared at several jazz festivals.
