Come experience art that explores both the realities of being a part of the South Asian Diaspora as well as the myths that surround our identities.
Voices of Resistance (VOR) is an annual exploration and affirmation of South Asian Diasporic identity through art. VOR provides a forum for artists of South Asian descent to share visual art and perform work that speaks to all the faces, experiences, and perspectives of the South Asian Diaspora. We use art as a powerful means of social commentary that allows us to empower and transform in ways ordinarily impossible through other mediums.
Our last VOR was a great success -- more than 250 people came to hear a variety of spoken-word and performance artists from within Chicago's South Asian community. This year VOR is being co-sponsored by DesiLit, which will be having its biennial Kriti Literary Festival the same weekend as this show.

Thanks for the request and for supporting Ms. Roy!
"The only dream worth having is to dream that you will live while you are alive, and die only when you are dead. To love, to be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and vulgar disparity of the life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget." - Arundhati Roy
Thank you for making us one of your top friends, VOR! We're so excited to partner with you and the South Asian Progressive Action Collective (SAPAC) this year!
We're really looking forward to all the great performances at this year's VOR and Kriti Festival, April 26-29 at UIC & Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Please tell all your friends who love or want to learn about South Asian and diasporic literature and arts!
