Armed with an acoustic guitar and a voice as smooth as Sinatra, the contrast between his deeply emotive and comedic lyrics position Vorn Doolette as one of Australia's truly unique young musicians.
Based in South Australia, Vorn has become a sought after performer amongst the Australian music festival scene, playing to packed crowds at Woodford, the National and Blue Mountains Folk Festivals with his band One Night Jam. Vorn was also one of the youngest ever recipients of the ‘Lis Johnston Award for Vocal Excellence’ at the 2005 National Folk Festival.
Currently focusing on a solo career, Vorn has supported a variety of musicians including Loren, Mihirangi, Old Man River and Lior as well as continuing his festival appearances.
Most importantly, Vorn is a storyteller. His lyrics weave magical stories and carry the listener on a journey that captures the most fundamental human emotions of sadness, love and verging insanity!
Vorn has just completed a national tour (July 08) and will now spend time in the studio, working on a solo EP, which he expects to be released in 2008. Stay tuned for details.
‘Lior and Vorn Doolette impress the pants off the punters at the Gov.’
‘Accompanying himself on acoustic guitar, Doolette has a bit of the Arlo Guthries about him, weaving elaborate and amusing stories into a quirky folkie tapestry. A bold and entertaining performer, Doolette cheekily lampooned the headliner before ending his set with the trio of songs from his MySpace page.’

'He's supported Lior and it's easy to see and hear why that would prove a good fit. His songs are quirky, funny, charming, gentle, inventive and inveigling. I can well imagine whiling away hours, drinking in his personality, stamped distinctively and indelibly on his poetic, if slightly inscrutable work. He falls comfortably into the reinvigorating 'and now for somebody and something completely different' category, in the best possible sense. One to watch, but, moreover, really listen to, which is no effort, given his velvety voice. Lovely guitarist, too!'
