Come cast your vote for STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT!
At Green Valley High School, it hardly matters who will actually lead student council...will life really change if the prom theme is "Under The Sea" instead of "Starry Night?" But try telling that to candidates running and people who love them (or hate them).
For them, the rest of their lives seem to hinge on who can get the most VOTES. Each candidate has a reason for running and a very public persona...but things are rarely how they seem in high school.
Everyone has a dream; but it's not always the one you wear on your sleeve.

Influences
Muffin Pasquinelli: The valedictorian of GVHS, but Muffin has a secret she has finally admitted to herself: she’s really just not that smart. Even though she’s well educated, she cheats on most of her tests because her mom pushes her to be the absolute best. She's running for president because her mom wants her to be a litigator, but secretly... in her heart of hearts all Muffin wants to do is be a flight attendant! Muffin doesn't know how to project herself to her peers, so to the outside observer, she seems like a pretty generic high school overachiever. And while she certainly has her shortcomings, who she is ultimately is hilarious, precocious, determined and unique.
Mark: is an evil nerd who has been pushed out of everything he feels he deserves by Muffin. He's very ambitious. He loves power and is distracted by very little else. He's really powerhungry to the point of comedy. METICULOUS. CALCULATING. DELIBERATE. AMBITIOUS. These are the qualities that Mark Boyd not only values, but embodies to a “T.” After an entire childhood spent losing out to his mortal enemy, Muffin, he finally decides to exact revenge when she goes after the one thing he really wants, and the thing Muffin doesn’t care about nor deserve: Student Council President.
Nikki: Nikki is a super politically-correct African-American Role Model. But she IS NOT!!! an advertisement for her ethnicity! She works hard and keeps her head down. Her mom died when she was young and her dad works two jobs so they can live in a good school district. She struggles with how much she wants her race to define her, but when times are tough, she knows she can always look to Oprah.
Nikki wants to be a good person and make everyone happy. She doesn't want to abandon who she is, but she also wants to W I N ! !
Trish: Once upon a time, Trish and Muffin were inseparable. They went everywhere together; Trish did all Muffin’s homework, and to Trish, Muff could do no wrong. But once Mark sees Trish as the perfect pawn in his war against Muffin, he convinces Trish to join his team and a little bit of diabolical romance blooms. Trish soon discovers that while she’s good at being a side kick, she’s even better at being a villainous side kick.
Sounds Like

RYANN FERGUSON and STEVEN JAMAIL’s award winning collaboration began 6 years ago at Rice University. Together, they have collaborated on numerous projects including 2005 Fringe Festival show, Byzantium and the Harper’s Guild Award winning aria, “Lotus Song.” From production to marketing to lighting to musical direction; from turkeys to Tony award winners, between the two of them, they have covered nearly every square inch of the Broadway community job market. VOTE! marks their entry into the satirical, self-mocking and relentlessly plucky genre of high school musical capers...at least, artistically, that is.

keep me posted--- in another regard, are you willing to send me any demo tracks that I can put on my iPod to listen to when i'm out and about and with friends? is there a demo recording that's available (or could be made available via private message?? ;) haha)
Well, Myspace & Facebook groups are the first that come to mind, but when the show gets produced somewhere, which it will no doubt ;), you could set up a proper website and have like a "Muffin's Corner" for fans of the show or whatever. That's my idea. I may think of some more...
Who did the orchestrations? They're good - playful and "plucky". I'm an orchestrator myself, though struggling for work :(:(:(. Anyway, glad to hear that the show is really going somewhere. I'd love to see it in NY some day.
