THE OPEN MIC HAS A NEW HOME -- FREDDY'S BAR & BACKROOM

With the demise of Vox Pop, and also SOLO, the Open Mic has taken up once-a-month residence at Freddy's Bar & Backroom on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. We're there on the THIRD Sunday of each month. 8PM start, 7:30 sign up.

Brooklyn's hippest Open Mic bids a fond adieu to Vox Pop. And, to a lesser extent, Solo. We've also bid adieu to the Vox Pop name. It is now the Brooklyn Open Mic.

Come hear our host bleat out one or two original Punxsutawney Jesus & The Acolytes tunes. Depending upon how unlucky you are, that could be "Sweet Little Sally", or perhaps "Shrinking Violet", or any number of others. Maybe he'll do his cover of the Paul Revere And The Raiders classic "Kicks". In any event, bring your cyanide pill just in case.

Songs, stories, poems and politics. Everyone welcome. No cover, but 2 drink minimum. Hosted by local musician/gadfly Punxsutawney Jesus -- "The Great Pontificator".

Come join us every Sunday. Videotape yourself and send us the video. We’ll post excerpts of the best on the site. (Or don't -- see if we care. We've had this page up for over a year, and not ONE single mp3 or video has been sent in. Harumph, I say!) Three song/fifteen minute maximum.
