At first glance, one may presume Raheli will start off a live set with a ballad, sweetly singing to her lover for his warm embrace. There is more that meets the eye to this singer/songwriter/producer. She is a creative force and makes no apologies for her outspoken lyrics, powerfully uplifting vocals or bubbly demeanor. Raheli took no prisoners during her live performance at the World Cafe Live in August of 2007; as one of the chosen performers of the Beta HiFi Emerging Artists Concert Series, she didn't win the competition but she definitely won the crowd.
Sharing the stage with artists John Mayer, Musiq Soulchild, Jealousy Curve and Jeff Kessler, Raheli is quickly establishing her status in the independent music scene. She not only exudes a sensual energy that is sure to get the attention of her audience, she backs it up with a talent that is undeniable.
Reviews
Raheli's impromptu performance at the Rockwood Music Hall makes M12N.com news!
"The 20-minute set that followed can only be described as mind-blowing. With two original tracks off her EP ‘Ready for the Sun', "Love Unrequited" and "Broken," Raheli blew the vocal skills of any other major breakthrough voice like Kelly Clarkson or Jennifer Hudson way out of the water. Awe-inspiring for every minute, her set concluded with the perfect end: Prince's "Kiss," complete with kissing noises on cue and perfect faux-falsetto.
After all my years of concert-going, including seeing Prince himself, Queen, Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keys, I have never been so in awe of the vocals filling up the room - to the point where I thought the walls were going to burst of elation. Raheli, the random singer from Philadelphia, has a voice so phenomenal that I could only keep wondering, "Why isn't she famous?" as my jawed remained dropped."
