Myspace Layouts at MySpaceSupport.com / MySpace BackgroundsPatrick Poladian was born in Paris, France of Armenian heritage and come of age in the sixties, during a time of intense social and cultural (r)evolution, which strongly influenced the development of his musical interests. Free improvisation and the absence of defined structure were the musical bill of the day, standing in contrast to a conservative, well-established society. With his brother Jean Poladian (trumpet), he formed a quintet, playing at the Riverbop Club, at the Latin Quarter, and recording live at Maison de la Radio in Paris.
In the 80's, Patrick moved to the U.S., completing his academic studies and received a Master's degree in Music Education. As a working pianist in New York, Patrick felt a need to play in different musical veins, not only for reasons for financial survival, but I order to enrich his understanding of the Black American as well as other musical traditions.
He was musical director of the show "Not Just Another Pretty Face" and took part in a Duke Ellington memorial concert, led by Mercer Ellington. He also performed with Reggie Workman, Arthur Blythe, Art Farmer, Wayne Dockery, Leon Thomas and the late Beaver Harris and Clarence Sharp. His involvement has included creating a live improvised musical accompaniment to a dance performance at the Merce Cunningham Studio, together with trumpeter Roy Campbell.
Patrick has his own record label (Voyage Music) Discography: The Paris-Manhattan Trio Interplay (Voyage Music Label) The Chabak Trio (Voyage Music Label) Comfort Me Blue (Voyage Music Label) Comfort Me Blue CD available on CDBaby.com, iTunes and SnoCap
