Sounds Like
the lovechild of 70's classic rock, 80's new wave, and 90's alternative, weened on lacker finish... a little bit of all of the influences that we have listed.
With their influences spanning 4 decades, with genres abound, i give you Voyageur. The trio's sound is an edgy mix of gritty alternative hooks, classic rock flare, and just a dab of new wave soul. Keeping a contemporary approach on music, the group weilds an inventive, yet uniform, mix of energetic rock
you can shake your ass to, as well as dramatic, atmospheric soundscapes and heart-felt balladry.
Stemming from former outfits, such as Ahankara and Eleventh Symphony, Robert Weil (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Russell Vance (bass), and Joseph Adkins (drums) have been writing and touring together since 1998. Carrying a ten-year tradition of independent releases, booking, and touring regionally with bands such as A Day In The Life (now, Hawthorne Heights) and A Study In Her, the band strives to give back to the music community at least one grain of what they've gotten out of it.
With now, a decade of history behind them, Voyageur ushers in a ground work of songs with their new, self-titled full length album! Keep an eye out for it, soon on itunes and all other major mp3 sites, as they continue independently booking, promoting, and playing out!
PRESS:
On The Self-Titled Album:
"(With) their live show as an extension of their music, the listener feels he/she is in a drug-induced euphoria, with stripped-down guitar and bass work personalities that keep the music vibrant and colorful, (yet) maintaining instrumental intricacies that keep the listener interested and intrigued.
-Kevin Warwick, CityBeat Magazine, August 16, 2006
"Voyageur on this CD are a good listen. I have thoroughly enjoyed it... Heavy delay; I likes. Thumping, upfront bass lines; Oh yeah! I definitely likes! Introspective, dreamlike somberness; I likes also. Falls somewhere in-between STELLASTARR*, THE EDITORS and INTERPOL.... In fact, my first few listens of this hit me like a demo of sorts for a band like Interpol without a second guitar or keyboard. It's like those pieces of Voyageur COULD exist (and proly do) in an alternative universe... But here in Cincinnati, a stripped down barebacked threesome like Voyageur is the way to go on MANY different
levels. This is a solid release and I appreciate the effort the band took rather than a e-mail saying "Check out our MPs Dude." I spun this disc often and frequently. Im interested to see where Voyageur takes this thing and will keep a watchful eye on them.
