Interests

  • General

Writing, reading & listening to audiobooks, making cakes (baking anything, really) shopping, watching movies, spending time with friends and family, dogs, food, throwing cheesey parties, travelling, babies (human and animal), money, sleep, and planning the future.
  • Music

Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Kelly Clarkson, Ashlee Simpson, AC/DC, Shania Twain, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, all classical. There's too many artists to mention in this section!
  • Movies

Enchanted, Transformers, Count of Monte Cristo, Crash, Princess Bride, all X-Men's (though I like the 1st the best), all of Kevin Smith's films (Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl, etc), Phantom of the Opera, Braveheart, Forrest Gump, Clueless and much more!
  • Television

Heroes, Lost and Friends. I only watch TV on DVD so that explains my lack of favorite programs.
  • Books

Currently HOST. But there are too many to mention...The Bible, The Twilight Series, The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society, Skinny Bitch, The Stephanie Plum series, Harry Potter series, Natural Born Charmer, Shadow Man, The Stand, A Northern Light, Bridget Jones's Diary, Freak the Mighty and most mysteries. I like a little romance if it's not overdone and cheesey.
  • Heroes

Jesus Christ, Dennis Miller (my husband, not the famous one:)), Barbara Kingsolver, working mothers, Stephenie Meyer, Stephen King, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Janet Evanovich, Cody McFadyen, Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, Drew Barrymore

About me:

I am a devoted follower of Christ, a wife, a dog Mom & a baker (my #1 hobby, not my profession). And that pretty much sums up my priorities in life.

I work for the post office at the Remote Encoding Center as a data conversion operator. I enter in the information off of mail pieces that the scanners were unable to read. While I'm doing that, I listen to audiobooks and I feel really blessed to have a job where I'm basically paid to entertain myself. Another two of my big hobbies are reading and writing, so this job really fits in well with my interests.

June 2009 marks our 9-year wedding anniversary. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and I'm trying to be as good as a wife as he deserves. Our daughter (yes, our dog is our child!) will turn five on our wedding anniversary.

My father had a stroke last October so I spend a lot of time helping him with things he can no longer do, especially with his finances & anything that involves reading (like his medicine) since he can't read any more. My husband and I also help him set up at the flea market each month so he can make some money off the ginormous amount of junk (I guess one man's trash is another's treasure) he's collected over the years.

Anyway, Myspace has allowed me to meet a lot of fellow foodies across the country and I love sharing recipes and ideas, so friend me if you are like-minded!

LOL My name's Tasha. Glad to meet you. You can purchase fish sauce from any Asian market and sometimes, other markets order it too. It's made with fermented fish; good stuff.

I never had to train my kitty. She came that way. We discovered her special skill by accident. One day, my bf just suggests I tell her to sit for treats and she did... several times. We were amazed. Whoever lost her in the first place lost a great kitty. No one came looking for her at the shelter. My gain. Lucky me.

The skillet I used for the cashew chicken is actually a chicken fryer. The one I used for the fried rice is a stir fry pan and it's rounded. I bought a big set of pans about 10 years ago, but they need replacing now.

Yeah, I am just now seeing your comment and the one my husband posted while I was gone. Dumb myspace never told me I had new comments! Grr.  By the time we got to the tigers it was pretty freaking hot, and they were all by the glass...would've been cooler to see them moving around.  As for the insurance,  I am keeping my fingers crossed it won't be bad...this is the first claim ever.  We'll see...
  • Jul 14 2009 3:22 AM

It got major hail damage...and I didn't get their insurance coverage because it was like $20 a day extra...so, I get to claim it on my insurance.  Bleh.  Luckily I don't have a deductible to meet!

Hello! Those specks are chocolate. She didn't want to use the microplane she opted to chop them into bits and pieces. Yes it had ricotta, whipped cream, candied lemon w/c i had  in the freezer. I made a lot when i made the meyer lemon bars. I'll be making my own version coz there are extra fillings for another batch of cake.

Yeah, they take the park pretty serious..it's been around since the late 60's.  The guy doing the magic show has been there 34 years!!!
I LOVE it there V..it's so much fun and I'm in the saloon where they do like 6 shows a day so never a dull moment.  I can also walk out front and watch the gun fights as well   They have a country music show that's pretty awesome to, sometimes on my break I go over and watch.
  • Jul 13 2009 9:36 PM

Yep, that's the same spot I took the video of the ducks. They didn't really come out until it was almost too dark to see them.

I'm still married to the Hasbeen.  I don't plan on doing the divorce paperwork because it's a huge pain in the ass.   Common law here takes 8 years, though, but because I'm still legally married to fuckface, that won't ever happen.

Exactly what I was thinking when I used the tarantulas!  They aren't that tasty, but they were on sale and I wanted to try them since their roasted walnut truffles by the same maker are so freakin good.
  • Jul 13 2009 4:27 AM

Yep, I always wear my wedding ring even though we are not technically married.  Tom wears one, too.   I have two pie plates...the blue one and a cranberry one.  They are both Pyrex.  I love the different colors they make.  The candy is imported from France and I get them at Whole Foods seasonally...these ones are espresso truffles.  I think they look like mini tarantulas.  LOL
  • Jul 13 2009 3:38 AM

Yeah, I know...and I was twitching the whole time, too! I deconstructed it on my plate. LOL I seriously did. I don't like black olives so I picked those out, I flipped the corn bread off onto a napkin and gave it to Tom, and then I ate the bits of turkey and seasonings mixed with the rice. I also took one bite of my salad and didn't eat the rest. Everything is tasting strange to me today, but we both know why. =) Oh yeah, that rice was just some crappy ass crap that came from a mix...Knorr Mexican Rice. Not impressive, but I only eat like 1/3 c of it, so it was ok.
  • Jul 13 2009 3:24 AM

I used an offset spatula (same that I use for cake) to spread the cheese soup and the cornbread mixture.  I sort of blopped it out on the meat mixture and then spread it around.  It sure turned out nice.  Tom loved it.  I think I would add some beans next time, too and maybe use the guts for nachos.  YUM.  I had a lot of fun making it because I've never made anything like it before.

Growing up, I did anything for the minced beef jerky with herbs and sticky rice. My mom used it to tame me or/and lure me to come in for dinner. lol

The fish balls is just fish paste boiled and then added to soups or whatever you like. And as for the mango: cut one up, add fish sauce, some hot pepper, and a little sugar (optional) and voila. Summer spicy treat. It sells like hot cakes at Asian festivals. hahaha I actually like my mangoes sour when eating it like this; best eating it with one eye closed due to the sourness.
  • Jul 12 2009 11:48 PM

LOL We're complete cooking opposites. And thanks for the compliments. If there's hunger, I'm there to feed it. I always believed food is love.

I love dogs too. Funny thing is although I consider myself a cat person, I've owned more dogs than cats (7 dogs to be exact and 5 cats). I've also had 8 ducks, 4 chickens, 2 rabbits, a Quaker parrot, and several fishes. I really want a miniature potbelly pig. I'm just an all-around animal lover. hahaha

My kitty's really verbally responsive to us. She sounds like a squeaky toy though.

  • Jul 12 2009 11:18 PM

Hello hello! Aww thanks for being a new friend and for liking my kitty. lol I love your cakes. I hope to one day be a baker. My bf bought me a mixer 3 yrs. ago and all I've made was his bday cake and cherry bourbon balls. hahaha

Hope you're having a lovely weekend.
