Sounds Like
Tinko
"If It Ain't Fixed . . . Don't Break It"
(self-released)
Sounding like the offspring of Flaming Lips visionary Wayne Coyne, Tinko singer Brian Strazek sets an indie eclectic tone early on the band's debut effort, "If It Ain't Fixed . . . Don't Break It." Songs such as the title track and "The King Is Dead" are quirky delights, while "Jaywalking Square" is delivered with the same urgency Carl Monday uses to capture elected officials jaywalking around the Justice Center. Made up of local musicians (Coffinberry, Clouds Forming Crowns and Interoffice Romance), Tinko shines mostly for its lack of pretense. "If It Ain't Fixed . . . Don't Break It" is a laid-back affair with the group eschewing easy hooks or studio bells and whistles to polish its sound. Instead, compelling songwriting disarms expectation while subtle melodies wholeheartedly pull you into the mix.

Tinko was Brian Strazek, Nicholas Cross, Anthony Cross, Matthew Charboneau, and Michael Mcdonald..Current members include Jason Kuebler and Sam Nichols .Also providing entertainment in other groups known as Coffinberry and Clouds Forming Crowns, Interoffice Romance, and the Up Ensemble .A little of this and not enough of that. Lacking in fashion sense, owners of dogs, fathers of daughters, law office workers , book shuffflers, hot oven tamers and steady chasers of degrees. Only leaving the house when absolutely necessary. Selectively unnoticed...supporting the arts with every drag. Writing songs to pass the time.
UPDATE: Our new record is done and is titled "If it ain't fixed...don't break it".
It is 10 songs. Email tinkoband@gmail.com or through myspace if you are interested in buying one or Click here to buy the Tinko CD.. That's about it really.
