Biography

V-Twin is a Nottingham-based band, formed in 2004 by Steve and Ash Love.

The current line up was completed in autumn 2008 with the addition of Rich Hill on guitar and the recruitment of Liam Stimpson on drums.

Taking their influences from progressive, stoner, thrash and groove metal, V-Twin deliver an aggressive and melodic brand of modern metal. The band has performed at venues across the midlands seeing them appear on Sherwood radio, America's Foundary of Doom 365, toprockradio.com, Metalmessiahradio.com, imradio.com and have featured in Insomnia Magazine, and is now preparing to record an EP which will showcase their killer tune, Pyramid’s Eye.

V-Twin have also recently appeared on Lincoln's Siren FM, who had a 30 minute feature of the band.

Uk Metal Underground review

Being in a band for many years in the North East of England, I have watched more and more bands emerge and seen the scene develop and become indeed very fruitful! With any such influx there is of course two sides, the bands that rock your socks off and the bands that basically suck ass and are doing it to look cool to the girls who don't know fuck all about music or metal.

Thankfully, V-Twin are not one of these... V-Twin actually ROCK!

Formed in 2004 by two brothers and completing the line up in 2008 (took ya a while lads lol) and hailing from Nottingham, V-Twin brand themselves as Metal/Thrash/Proggressive.

The first (and tragically only) track, Pyramids Eye, hits you like a pissed off Dio with an absolute bone cruncher of a riff which has some really nice intricacies to it whilst maintaining that fist in the air head-banging feeling. Even though I am sat here with a stinking hangover and feeling sick if I move my head I find myself nodding along to it!

It builds really nicely and picks up pace, altering the riff little by little until it has become some bastard love child of Early Sabbath and Death Magnetic Metallica then crashes and stops, making you think the song is over, but oh no, this monster of a track is merely stalking you and alluring you into a false sense of security before ripping you open once again!

The vocals are angry and powerful and fit the music very well indeed but it would be nice to hear the occasional burst of clean in there as well. The guitar work, especially on the solo’s is first rate and played with proffesional precision. The drums sound like a psycho with a solid sense of rhythm has been let loose and alternates between chilled and furious.

I am trying to figure out what it is about this band that makes me sit up and want to listen and I think I know what it is. They got serious fucking groove man! So many bands are lacking groove and just go for all out speed and technicality but these guys have got groove by the bucketload, which for me is one of the most important prerequisites of making music.

Its tricky to sum up an opinion on a band based on just one track (although there is a rough riff’s track on there which is also incredibly good, reminds me of suicide and redemption by Tallica) but I tell thee what, V-Twin kick ass!

When you can actually FEEL the passion in a piece of music (there was a bit on the rough riffs track which gobsmacked me!) it makes you remember an act.

The musicianship on display here is of an excellent standard and I for one will be adding them to my myspace and hoping they play somewhere near me soon.

Fucking nice one lads!

8/10.
