"From beyond a sea of fluorescent glow sticks emerges a mirage of primary coloured gurus laden with instruments aplenty and the intention of hypnotising you with their shiny brass instruments and tribal dancing. Be prepared for a welcome bombardment of unexpected sounds. Unfortunately technical difficulties tonight left Vudu Guru perplexed and jeopardised their chances of getting through to the finals. Despite this though, they got back on track and played the rest of their set with unceasing enthusiasm, delivering a lively and eclectic set that got the crowd dancing and even succeeded in hitting the sound engineer with a glow stick missile. After a minute long silence the audience was left wondering whether they had forgotten how to play their instruments but was swiftly reminded just why these guys are worthy musical gurus. The rhythms are tight, the form is free but not sporadic and the didgeridoo is a refreshing departure from the norm. Describing themselves as 'world' music Guru have something for everyone and plenty more up their glow stick adorned sleeves.
