"Grinding death from a quartet which, quite frankly, ripped yours truly a new arsehole when witnessed live a while back. There aren't enough bands from the east of Scotland doing music like this for my liking: early Carcass, Brutal Truth and crust all get a look in, gloriously evoking the stench of one of Dundee's finest piss-and-vomit-drenched alleys. Exactly the kind of hyper-blast grime the Scottish scene needs at the moment." Commendable 4/6
Calum Harvie, Zero Tolerance Magazine
"On Face, there's doomy grinding aplenty, much like Napalm Death circa Scum."
Steve Earles, Zero Tolerance Magazine
"This Carcass sound they mix with Death Metal and have we the Scottish Vulsellum sound, so simply are already that. Naturally they do not approach to the class these volume, no question, but these 5 songs is a genuinely strong beginning. If one can hold the quality of the two Promo of song and/or still another little can develop and better production uses, then I am sure that some labels for this Scottish volume the arms will peel themselves off." Meden, Possessed.de (Poorly but comically translated from German by babelfish! We'd appreciate anyone giving us the proper translation.)
Rising from the ashes of other incarnations, Vulsellum was born when Rob (then of Self Made Man) and Rick joined Kate and Kieran and the band started to focus on finding a sound of their own.
The band continued jamming of the course of 2005 to gain a sound that ranges from the speed of early Carcass, to the chunk of early 90s thrash.
Since then the band have continued to write material, and very soon the band will be playing another shitty bar near you!
After completing the recording of their debut EP "Face" at the end of 2007, James (formerly of Deadlock and Electric Groove) joined in January 2008 as second guitarist and played on stage with the band after only one rehearsal!
Due to personal commitments, James parted ways with Vulsellum amicably in March 2008 leaving the original 4-piece to continue assaulting you all in the ears.
If you want to try out for 2nd guitar, give us a shout.
You can hear Face and Sheep In Wolves Clothing here on myspace, as well as a few tasters plus Paranoia from an unreleased demo 2006.
