Write4Gold goes into its 6th round, but before, the 5th one will be celebrated extensively! On events in Vienna, Rome, Budapest, Haaksbergen, the Roskilde and the splash! festival, the “Classics” will take place. What’s going to happen there? – Winner crews and participants of the past 5 years are invited (without qualifying) to produce some high class wall productions in the relaxed atmosphere of a graffiti festival. One highlight for the participating crews of the Write4Gold Classics should be the new judging system. The crews will judge each other. How that works? – Each crew is handed out a jury sheet at the end of the competition. Every crew has to nominate 2 crew members to judge the other wall productions. The Classics in Vienna showed that this kind of systems works well. The test in Rome shows - the new system can be applied to the further categories. We also decided that there will always be one juror acting as a judge host to supervise the judgements and to give a rating himself. Poet73 (GFA) from Berlin will take on this job in Rome. In August 2007 we will continue with the official Write4Gold qualifyings, starting off with overseas events in the U.S., China, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The winners of those events are qualified for the next Word Finals in July 2008. New events in Europe are scheduled for spring 2008, in 16 countries across Europe, within 5 months! In Germany there will be 2 events in 2008, one of them will take place in Hamburg, the city where Write4Gold took place for the very first time.
For most of the worldwide aerosol artist community the Write4Gold is a unique and important event. In 2007 and 2008 Write4Gold goes into its 6th round with 20 worldwide venues! The following explanations will give you as an organiser,a judge or a participant a guideline how to decide or participate at Write4Gold Events.
Write4Gold 2007/2008 is first time judged by the participating crews and one additional judge and the organisation of Write4Gold!
THE 4 WRITE4GOLD CATEGORIES
Concept Painting (Priority 60%)
...perform a piece with your crew during 8 hours under the conditions: same colors (50 type of colors Molotow Premium 400ml), same topic (provided by the organisation few minutes before the competition start, same time: 8 hours to perform for everybody)
Freestyle Throw Ups (Priority 15%)
...one member of your crew perform a throw up under the conditions: same colors (2 type of Molotow Action Products, Burner Chrome 600ml, Covers All 3 600ml or similar), same word (provided by the organisation few seconds before the competition start, same time: 90 seconds to perform for everybody)
Freestyle Tagging (Priority 10%)
...one member of your crew perform a tag under the conditions: one marker or spraycan (Molotow 620PP, Molotow Premium 080 400ml), same word (provided by the organisation few seconds before the competition start, same time: no time limit for everybody)
Freestyle Sketching (Priority 15%)
...one member of your crew perform a sketch under the conditions: same marker (24 type of COPIC marker), same word (provided by the organisation few seconds before the competition start, same time: 90 minutes for everybody)
JUDGING
THE NEW VOTE OF THE CREWS (70%)
Marked on this jury sheet are various criteria which make out a good wall production, a throw-up, a sketch or a tag – swing, legibility, originality, composition, concept and static. Numerous giants of the scene influenced and determined the weighting and the guide lines of those criteria, which did prove worthwhile in 2006. Surely one could always supplement something or change the weighting.
Every Crew send after the competition 1 member to judge the other crews. We hand out that member the jury sheet and he got 45 minutes to judge the competitors!
THE VOTE OF THE JUDGE (20%)
First of all a jury member has to be in a position to estimate a lot of different criteria. Of course not every jury member knows everything, but we claim to be open minded and willing to learn new things without forgetting the foundations. Open your eyes for developements and innovations in Writing. The Jury Member will be mostly a international Writer.
THE VOTE OF THE ORGANISATION (10%)
There are different criteria which will be voted from the judges and the crews for each criterio each judge, each crew has to give points from 1 to 5. As more points the judge and the crews are giving to a crew as better the crew will stand in the ranking list. The evaluation will be summarized according to priorities. Every single category has a separate evaluation system and rules. There is a formula on the jury sheet to analyse the judgements. After all judgements are made, those data are entered in a computer program, and added or rather defined with the weighting.

After a great Write4Gold Classics East Europe we celebrate a comeback at the beautiful location on the Gödör Klub, V.Erzsébet tér budapest! Write4Gold East Europe 2008 is gonna happen on the 24.05.2008 in Budapest. Crews from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Crotatia, Ukraine, Belarus and Hungary participate in on of the biggest write4gold festival! Write4Gold is determined to expose the world to this word “Graffiti” and "Aerosol Art" and demand that it be accepted in the dictionary. One of the main operations of Write4Gold is organizing international graffiti competitions. Write4Gold has chapter representatives in each country. Each chapter will conduct their own country’s competition under Write4Gold, Aerosol Art Competition Worldwide. Wide Rules and regulations. Each chapter will then produce one champion. Each champion from every country is then invited to the european and world finals to germany. In addition, Write4Gold the originators of and only categorical worldcompetition in (the basic fundamentals of graffiti), "Concept Painting", "Tagging","Sketching" and "Throwups" categories, will also climax in the Category Finals.
Write4Gold Mission
Every year we try to feature the best and most innovative graffiti crews from all over the world, include the eastern europe countries like romania, bulgaria, hungary, slovakia or russia. One of our goals is to make this event as international as possible. Write4Gold is a platform for graffiti writers in general and an opportunity for all participants to express themselves. Since 2002 we try to support young and motivated people willing to take part in the planning and implementation process of Write4Gold.
Critical Points
While reading the philosophy section you might get an idea that of course we still support the culture, especially the graffiti aspect, trying to offer the writers and the audience as much service as possible - more than on many other graffiti events. To the public write4gold might look commercial because it is getting so big and of course it is no longer the kind of underground event like we know in the early days.
At first there was (in 2002) the idea (cantstopfanatics entertainment) of a international graffiti event in kind of a yearly competition, because there wasnt any event like write4gold in the past. Write4Gold, the world's premier graffiti competition that came in 2006 finally to New Zealand, South Africa, USA or Great Britain giving crews the chance to showcase their talents. Write4Gold is a free, all-ages, all-day public painting demonstration and concert, resembling a community fair more than a b-boy riot. The daytime event will be followed by a bodyrockin' ticketed after party, showcasing local hip-hop music, dance and art.
This is the graffiti event of the year, which is not to be missed.
