Waboo's Interests
|
| General | I am into cars in a big way. I like to build them. I like to drive them. I like to look at them, and I like to talk about them. I have two VW Rabbits. I am working on a Civic Si,
Quickpost this image to Myspace, Digg, Facebook, and others! and my Stealth Corolla. I also have a 1986 GMC Van named Lamont, and my newest toy a 1967 VW Bug that I hope to have running soon. I am went back to school a few years ago to learn more about how to make them work. I founded a car club with some friends a few years back(F.O.R. Racing).
It has taken on a life of it's own and morphed into a possible full time thing building cars(I hope), but I am not entirely single minded. I have tried LARPing with SOLAR at Shadowmoor, and recently started attending another LARP called TALAN. I found it a great escape to an alternate reality. I love food. I love to cook because I love to eat. I figure if you are going to eat you might as well enjoy what you eat , so I learned to cook at a young age. I like watching movies, listening to music and reading books as well. I am proud to be non-Microsoft dependent. I have a I-Mac and an IBM laptop running Linux, take that Bill "&#@%ing" Gates. I like to watch sports live, but not on TV. I like the game of Hockey especially Ice Hockey. I used to play Ice Hockey and might again one of these days. I love being outside and in that I like to bike, walk, swim, target shoot, and canoe. I really miss the outdoors and my Bike now that I am back in school and busy all the time. I have been known to dabble in political activism. I ran on the Libertarian ticket for the NC State House of Representatives twice. Check it out sometime http://www.electparker.org Most of all I like to share my time with my friends. I know it sounds cliche, but I really do enjoy the people who have chosen to stick it out, put up with me, and call me a friend. By the way membership has it's privileges. Usually my friends get to listen as I rant on about this and that, and I am told sometimes it's even entertaining to watch. | | Music | I have a hugely eclectic taste in music. If you play it, chances are I will like some of it. I will not bore with the whole catalog, suffice to say I love music and I change it to suit my mood. Classical for relaxation, Country for times of sadness and pain, Blues for times of contemplation, Jam bands for..... well jamming, Bluegrass and Folk when I want to tap my foot, Heavy metal for driving God Smack, Ozzy, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Staind, Trantirc, and just recently I have been obsessivley listening to the CruxShadows since I first heard then at Dragon Con 2007.
For sheer sing along quality you really can't go wrong with Bob Marley, The Beatles, The Band, Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton, Little Feat, Lynyrd Skynaryd, or Jimmy Buffet. Because even if you don't like their music, you know the words to all their songs. Finally, Aretha Franklin... because "You can never go wrong with Aretha" | | Movies | I like movies, comedy, Sci Fi, Action, Drama. I like a little of them all. Recently it's been..
the Austin Powers Trilogy, V, Serenity (I aim to mis-behave), American Beauty, Mystery Alaska, Girl Next Door, Dune (RUN...RUN..), 5th Element (Lee-Lu Dallas Multi-Pass...Multi-Pass), Boondock Saints, Sin City, Kill Bill I&II, BraveHeart (Every man dies, but not every man really lives.), Pirates of the Caribbean (Why is the Rum gone?)
, Kevin Smith Films (all of them), Leon (No Women, No Kids) , James Bond (No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.), X-Men , Resident Evil, Romeo and Juliet, 300 and such. | | Television | Don't have cable TV, so to make my Television work I have to climb on the roof and mess with the Antenna to change channels. Yeah it sucks, so I don't watch TV much. I watch Firefly on DVD or I watch movies. To add insult to injury, I also have dial up internet too, so that sucks. | | Books | I do read, but I listen to books on tape more often than I read the written word. Just a few of the Authors and books I have enjoyed: Lord if the Rings trilogy, Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Robin Cook, Issac Asimov, Good Omens, C.S. Lewis, Frank Herbert, James Redfield, Richard Bach, Richard Marcinko, James Clavell, Cervantes, Dante, George Orwell, Aldus Huxley, Berkley Breathed, William Nealy, Arthur C. Clark, Ian Fleming, Ferrol Sams, Ann Rice, James Redfield, Robert Jordan, Miyamoto Musashi, Shakespere, and Mark Twain and so forth. | | Heroes | People of vision. Those who dare to walk their own way, Swim against the current, and Speak out for those who are not spoken for... These are the people who make change happen rather than sit and watch change happen around them. Those with the strength of will to stand and say things like "I have a dream.... " "When in the course of human events..." "We the People of the...." Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it. |

Waboo's Blurbs |
About me:
I am a man of many names Rob, Fork, Angus, or just plain Waboo for short. I am an individual. I am neither easily categorized nor easily stuck into a specific box. I have very diverse interests and rather eclectic taste. In other words you better bring a bloody big nut shell if you expect to fit me in it. I am not afraid to be the weirdest person in the room, and often I am just that. I am caring and compassionate, possibly even to a fault. I am out spoken when it is required of me, but often I am quiet until I know what needs to be said. With any luck I can time my comment to make your drink come out your nose. I have a habit of quoting movies and scholars with equal abandon. I am always looking for any excuse to wear my kilt. I am a freak for anything mechanical and usually that means cars. I work as Bus Mechanic by day, but my weekends are spent plying with my own toys. I work as Ast. Chief of Pit & Grid for NASA-SE, I race AutoX, I drive track days with NASA and, am hoping to try my hand at NASA road racing eventually. I really only like to watch sports live. Sports on TV seem to be waste of time, and I can find other things to do. I have played Ice and Roller Hockey. I love the outdoors and spent three years living with at risk youth in a wilderness camp. Loved my kids, just got tired of the hours and the weather. Ask me about sweeping snow off my bed when I woke up in the morning. I am certainly open to new activities and experiences. If you took the time to read this far you are probably already sick and tired of thinking about me. If not drop me a line.

Who I'd like to meet:
Other people who like to play with these.
I am fairly open minded and open to meeting new people. I won't narrow it down any more than to say I'll give anyone a chance to make a first and maybe even a second impression. I would like to meet in no specific order of importance: Sean Connery, Eric Clapton, Carrol Shelby, The prophets Dennis Leary and George Carlin may he rest in peace, Capt. Tight Pants and his crew, and Darby Conley because this stuff in hilarious.
