The Safari Educational program is a cultural excursion through the history of African arts. The African heritage has been preserved and transmitted generation to generation through music, singing, dancing, storytelling, masks, costumes and instrument making. Safari Educational program uses these forms of art to continue preserving and conveying the legacy of African culture. (Schools and Universities)
DRUMCIRCLE
Interactive drumming circle is the most fundamental group activity for celebrating success, building community, relaxing, and breaking down racial, cultural, gender and age barriers. (Community and Corporate Events)
MUSIC AND WELLNESS WORKSHOP
The power of drumming and dance to reduce stress, encourage social interaction, improve physical fitness and increase optimism, humor and spirit. (Community, Prisons, Hospitals and Rehabilitation Center)
The WACONGO Dance Company is a traditional ensemble of master drummers, musicians and dancers, former residents of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who perform the ancestral songs and dances of Central Africa.
WACONGO’s artists have extensively toured Europe, Asia and North and South America. In its performances WACONGO explores music from 400 ethnic groups, including Luba, Mongo, Kongo, Mbala, Chokwe, Pende, Kuba, Mbunda and many more.
WACONGO’s mission is to inspire and educate audiences about African heritage and culture.
WACONGO promotes African culture by presenting African arts to the public, with a special emphasis on schools, churches, neighborhood organizations and community forums.
WACONGO’s educational residency program focuses on the culture and traditions of various ethnic groups from Central Africa. The program includes instruction on traditional instruments, song, dance, costuming, storytelling, art, and ancestral tales.
