ADAM Night OUT! Second Wednesday of each month at Noma Bar & Grill on West Fourth Street, Downtown, from 6 - 8PM!
With my busy life I make time for my partner, whom I love very much, as well as family and friends. I have a hodge-podge of friends who are a huge part of my life. My friends are like family, they have different racial, religious and political backgrounds, yet we all get along great. They're scattered across the globe, and some live here in my hometown. Many of my friends live in my neighborhood. We have cookouts, hang out on one another's patio, watch movies, spend time by the pool in the summer, and party, party, party!
I have a passion for history, especially ancient Egypt and love all genres of music. I enjoy the theater and have a variety of interests in movies. I also enjoy the arts and interior design. Outdoor activities keep me on the go in the summer with swimming, football, soccer, biking, hiking and traveling.
For a number of years I worked for American Express. Working for AMEX changed my life. I was a Diversity Leader for a number of years and I am thankful to American Express Company for opening my own heart and mind. Diversity is a gift of which we should all take advantage! I'll never forget the people with whom I had the pleasure of working.
Helping others is one of my missions in life. Especially reaching out to those who have been hurt by religion. Teenagers and young adults need hope and encouragement in times of trouble and distress in their lives. No teen or young adult should ever feel they are not loved. The leading cause of death among gay teens is suicide! This must end!
"If you plant seeds of of injustice, disaster will spring up, and your oppression of others will end."
Proverbs 22:8 (Good News Bible)
Music
..Various genres of music from Rock to Hip/Hop. Artists like Dave Matthews Band, Black Eyed Peas, AKON, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Rascal Flats and more
I have had a fascinating journey through life so far. After I graduated from high school, I worked for a couple of years, then attended college. I came out as a gay man to my family and friends while in college. I had known from a very early age, as young as 5 years old, that there was something different about me. It wasn't until I started going through puberty that I realized what was different. Instead of being attracted to girls, I was attracted to guys, both emotionally and physically. All throughout my pubescent years I struggled with being different. When I accepted myself and came out to my parents and friends, my life really began! My parents and friends have loved me unconditionally from day one. We have made this great journey together and the joys of life continue.
My parents, Dale and Sarah, are an important part of my life. They have always been supportive, of not only me, but for the LGBT community and human rights. I have really been blessed with having parents who love me unconditionally considering we were raised in the South and filled with fundamentalist dogma and brain washed through the Southern Baptist Church.
I entered the working world again after college and left my home town. I lived in High Point, NC for a few years and then decided to transfer with the company I was with at the time and moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. Returning to North Carolina in 2002.
In October of 2006, I met a great guy named Scott at a PFLAG meeting. We started dating and in March of 2007, he moved in. We celebrated our first anniversary with a trip to Key West, Florida and our second anniversary with a trip to Southern California. We have three kitty cats, Penelope, Prometheus and Lucille.
Scott and I have a wonderful relationship. We respect each others beliefs and we share many of the same ethical and moral values. We each share a love for life and humanity, we are both Humanists. In addition to a wonderful partner, I have an awesome network of friends who are like family.
Since leaving American Express in 2006 I have been volunteering and working as a grassroots organizer. I also enjoy working in Interior Design and Publishing. Being a proud Democrat, I have volunteered with the local party for a number of years. I also do a lot of volunteer work for local non-profit groups.

As you can see from my profile, I am a Christian. I have found an approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. My parents and I are active members of Wake Forest Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. Wake Forest Baptist is affiliated with the Alliance of Baptists and The Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists. We are theologically and socially progressive and maintain our Baptist heritage and freedom.
The Alliance of Baptists is a movement of progressive Christians — individuals and congregations — seeking to respond to the continuing call of God in a rapidly changing world.
"Never place a period where God has placed a comma." - Gracie Allen
I am a proud Liberal, "... if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." -- John F Kennedy.
We were all raised Southern Baptists, but left the Southern Baptist Church when I was excommunicated for being a gay man. My Christian heritage has been important to me my entire life. I do not believe Christianity should be used as a weapon to condemn people. In my opinion, religious fundamentalism is destroying our nation and democracy! It has brought harm and misunderstanding to thousands of souls. This nation was found as a secular society with separation of church and state, it is important that we remain one.
"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State... Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear... Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law." ~ Thomas Jefferson
It scares me to see what is happening around the world and in our beloved America. Religious fundamentalism and extremism is killing hundreds of thousands humans every year. A 2008 Republican presidential candidate quoted Sinclair Lewis on national TV and said, "when fascism comes to this country it will be wrapped in a flag carrying a cross."
I do not follow a legalistic view of the Bible. Being a lover of history and religion, I read the Bible with an open mind. The Bible is allegorical and should be interpreted metaphorically and not literally. Many stories in the Bible are mythological and therefore cannot be taken literally. Those in Christianity who continue to view the Holy Scripture this way is slowly destroying humanity. Our Divine Creator must be weeping as humans kill humans in Gods name.
The leading cause of death among gay teens is suicide! This must end! Christianity and other religions should be more progressive in theology. In my Christian faith I attempt to live my life by the message Christ taught in Matthew chapter 5, "The Sermon on the Mount." I have found the moral value of Jesus teachings should be to love and respect all of humanity!
As a progressive Christian, I recognize the faithfulness of other people who have other names for the way to God's realm, and acknowledge that their ways are true for them, as my way is true for me. All people should be able to participate in the Christian community and worship life without feeling like they have to become one just to be accepted. Including but not limited to: believers, agnostics, atheists, conventional Christians, questioning skeptics, women, men, those of all sexual orientations and gender identities, those of all races and cultures, those of all classes and abilities, those who hope for a better world and those who have lost hope.
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer....This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. These things command and teach."- I Timothy 4: 4-5; 9-11.
I believe you find more grace in the search for understanding than you do in dogmatic certainty - more value in questioning than in absolutes. I believe we should form ourselves into communities dedicated to equipping one another for the work we feel called to do: striving for peace and justice among all people, protecting and restoring the integrity of all God's creation, and bringing hope to those Jesus called the least of his sisters and brothers
