Bjork, Prince, and Trent Reznor adopted a child- and the child liked folk music, from India.
Wade McCollum was born on the road. His father is a drummer and Wade was born into the life of a traveling gypsy band tribe. Wade spent his early childhood years on a mad unconventional adventure traipsing from town to town in a sparkling green 1978 Dodge van, ala Scooby Doo. His parents are intrepid loving souls who encouraged Wade to go to the edge, challenge the status quo and always speak the truth.
Over the past ten years Wade has honed his skills as a professional performer, making his sole living from Theatre, Music, Film and TV. As a solo musician Wade has toured the country performing in listening rooms including THE CUTTING ROOM in New York, TANGIER in Los Angeles and THE CRYSTAL BALLROOM in Portland OR. Wade made a huge splash in the Los Angeles music industry with his performance of Hedwig in the incredible Rock and Roll tale "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". His performance garnered all of the top awards in Los Angeles and in turn he met some very influential music industry professionals who encouraged him to apply his vocal acrobatics to some original material. So Wade spent the next year in LA writing his demo recording "Beauty is a Streetlight" a ten track CD produced in the legendary Kung Fu Bakery, 9 original songs and one Dan Bern cover.
Wade has thousands of fans all over the world and is primed to take the next step. He has a great online presence and has sold thousands of albums independently.
Wade's music is an open letter to the world. His unique perspective and sound come from his unusual upbringing. His honesty and individuality permeate every note on "Beauty Is A Streetlight," whether melodically screaming for the pain of those caught in the horrors of war, or wailing a prayerful love song, his voice conveys his love for humanity and passion for peace. Wade speaks the truth about the gravity of our global situation, yet somehow assures us that we are going to make it through.
Wish we could come to your event in Portland:( We will be recording with Sean Flora all weekend though, if you are still in town come with Luke and hang:)
