ANNIE CRANE:
Crane pays homage to Celtic-folk stylings and the prolific singer-songwriters of the 1960s such as Paul Simon and Joan Baez. "Crane's rustic Americana-to-European-mountaintop songwriting will make you want to hug the person next to you!" - Baglivi
ELIZABETH DEVLIN:
Devlin invokes influences from scratchy American phonograph, combining bitter-sweet, haunting vocals with angelic, cacophonous Autoharp melodies.
THE TELETHONS:
The Telethons are a guitar and drum duo from Flanders, NJ who energetically approach rock music as folk music. They write songs about fight clubs, brainworms, and competitive youth culture.
JOHN HOUX:
Young American traveler John Houx, in one New York year, has played an empty C subway platform and a sold-out Mercury Lounge. Often compared to a young Bob Dylan, he claims to "look more like Old Bob Dylan."
CHRIS MAHER:
A young songwriter from New York City, wise beyond his years and schooled below his wisdom, proud and protective of the tricks up his sleeve. His music is oft an exercise in contradiction: Neurotic and savvy, country and city, wry and idealistic.
THE WOWZ:
The WoWz are a three-piece miscellaneous band from New York City who play weird folk music. They comb (and combine) the eternal dolor of Hank Williams Sr. with the perverse humor of David Berman and the improbable harmonies of BEATLES FOR SALE.
ERIN REGAN:
"If you saw Ghost World and instantly wanted the Thora Burch character for your best friend, Regan is for you...Regan’s vocal delivery is deadpan and sullen, with an icy dismissiveness. Whatever wounds she’s sustained still seem fresh...Her stage persona may say stay the hell away from me, but her bleak, outsider chronicles are welcoming and inclusive, and will resonate hard with any other cool kids who’ve been liberated (or long to be liberated) from a stifling environment. "-Lucid Culture
ROYAL PINE
Royal Pine gives timeless music that crackles with strains of old-time, folk and Americana and wraps you up like a warm woolen blanket on a cold winter's eve. This is folk music for the unafraid.
GANN MATTHEWS
With songs reminiscent of the rich tradition of the great troubadours of the 60’s and 70’s, a rich and unique voice, and a style that isn’t afraid to bend genres, Gann writes reflective songs that are hauntingly melodic and immediately memorable.
ALEXANDRA DREWCHIN
Drewchin combines her classicle background
with her folky finger picking to create her jazzy
lullaby-like blues and haunting melodies. She moved
to New York in the summer of 2007 and since then has
been hired to write music for film and has recorded
with the freak folk band Silver Summit.
Influences
Picnics, ants, watermelon and red checkered blankets...!
“It will be more like a picnic than a show,” says Devlin.
Sounds Like
"Crane's sound is a mild Celtic folk found on Shanachie releases and 60s forebears like Joan Baez. Devlin, another Mick, delves into the world of Old Timey sounds, playing an ancient autoharp over a voice that crackles and spits like a forgotten 78."
