WAG Promotions are a sub group of Whitwell Action Group, a community forum founded to help establish and develop local community projects. A local survey identified that the community would like to see localised live music and festivals, WAG promotions are responding to this - for the community by the community. This includes your community!
WAG Promotions are run on a not for profit basis and are attempting to build a reputation for providing quality entertainment across all genres of music.
Bands will have the pleasure of playing at The Attic (no stairs to climb), which is a function room separate from, but above, the Boot and Shoe in Whitwell on the Derbys, South Yorks and Notts border. The room has a stage, dance floor, lighting, good acoustics, bar and holds just over a hundred swaying bodies. For bigger bands (see Twin Lizzy) we use Whitwell Commuity Centre which is also a cracking venue but holds 250.
WAG Promotions were established in early 2008 and staged their first gig on Feb 9th with Indie rockers 'First Pocket Last' kicking off a new era. We have called in favours of bands and musicians that we have made the aquaintance of over the years in order to get things rolling and they will always have our thanks and gratitude - they know who they are.
The gang at WAG Promo Towers are working hard to raise our profile and touch base with as many good folk as will allow, so get in touch with us if we have not already been a nuisance to you, you are more than welcome.
Festivals are on the to do list and in the future will hopefully be bringing some exciting ideas to fruition - watch this space.
If you are still awake and interested go to the Whitwell Action Group website where the WAG Promotions link will give you access to previews, reviews and photos of gigs.
Hope to see you some time, pop in and say hello.
For all you locals, this is entertainment on your doorstep, use it or lose it!
Keep music live and local, support your venue.
