It’s finally here! After 1,5 years of blood sweat and tears, Wagtale’s debut album ‘Going Places’ is available for all punks to enjoy. ‘Going Places’ has 12 songs ranging from apocalyptic punk rock anthems and bombastic waltzes to full blown, hyper-speed hard-core gems. Every member individually as well as the band as a whole, have put their entire heart and soul into the making of this debut. Countless hours were put in the production of this album, making sure that every detail was perfect. This meticulous approach has resulted in a truly remarkably debut release, especially considering the do-it-yourself attitude that has been applied throughout the production process. Wagtale is very proud of their debut album ‘Going Places’ and we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it and performing it live on stage. Here’s what others have to say about our record:
FRET: “(...) Wagtale forms a tight collective in which Michiel Peereboom profiles himself as an excellent vocalist. (…) The group has released an album of which they can be proud. Wagtale is a group with potential!”
LiveXS: “Wagtale delivers a pristine melodic punk rock record with attention to detail. There are plenty of gems on the album: the opening track ‘Elmwood Street’ (including a raging guitar solo), the potential hit ‘Erase & Rewind’ and ‘Parasites’.”
3voor12/utrecht: “’Going Places’ is a debut of which hundreds of other bands can be jealous. If Wagtale manages to continue working on their follow up with the same level of perfectionism, we would not be surprised if this band is actually going to be ‘going places’.”
Upmagazine (Issue #29 September 2006): “Wagtale has been one of Holland’s most promising punk rock bands for years. It has been a matter of waiting for their debut full length to actually have this statement confirmed. With ‘Going Places’ the five-piece from Utrecht finally delivers the evidence and Wagtale can officially be promoted to the premier league of the Dutch punk rock scene.”
Musicfrom.nl:“ (...) Furthermore it can be noted that a track such as ‘Erase & Rewind’ has quite a lot of hit potential. It’s a catchy song that starts with a beautiful intro by a real string ensemble and ends with well thought out three part vocal harmonies over a thundering riff.”
Netherlands Pop Institution: Entered at number 8 on the December 2006 issue of the ‘Lowlands top 25’ hit list.
KinkFM: Regular rotation on KinkFM’s playlist as well as a 5 week run in the Kink 40 hit list.
Wagtale is a five-piece punk rock band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. The music can be described as a thick, fast-paced, high-octane, intense yet highly melodic brand of punk rock. Wagtale’s recipe for quality songs starts with steady, hard-hitting drum beats laid down by Stuck In A Day label-owner Bram de Wijs. The beat is underlined by FT de Lange on bass and complimented with the shredding sounds of Nils van Dijk and Vincent de Goede who add well thought-out riffs and guitar lines to the mix. To top it all of, Michiel Peereboom applies his voice and often dark but intelligent lyrics to inject a message and meaning into the songs. Sprinkle on some booming three-part vocal harmonies, stir thoroughly and enjoy!
But enough about the songs and more about what it is really all about when playing in a punk band; shows! Wagtale thrives on delivering highly explosive live sets, grabbing every opportunity to have their brand of pop punk heard by as many listeners as possible. With every band member having about 10+ years of experience in the national and international punk rock scene, any visitor of a Wagtale show can count on having their socks rocked off.
