After playing their first official show at The Beta Bar on August 27, 2006, Tallahassee based WAIT FOR GREEN has come a long way in less than two years as a band. Drew Dockerill (21, Vocals and Rhythm Guitar), Rafael Britto (20, Lead Guitar), Derek Hall (21, Drums and Percussion), and AJ Larson (21, Bass) have come together to create the unique blend of Alternative-Rock fused with Funk, Reggae, Jazz, and Hip-Hop known around Florida as WAIT FOR GREEN. Staying true to the music they are passionate to create, WFG is often compared to an original blend of Incubus, 311, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Slightly Stoopid. “WFG most definitely brings the ROCK in its huge reggae rock sound . . . A must for fans of 311.” - ThePier.org.
Growing up in different cities throughout South Florida and as far away Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the unique cultural backgrounds and variety of musical influences of each of the band members helps shape the core of Wait For Green’s music. Drew stumbled upon AJ jamming on his bass one day with his door open to his dorm room and Derek and Rafael were total strangers and random roommates assigned to live with each other. Thanks to a few connections between mutual friends, the internet, and word of mouth, the band was formed.
After sharing the stage with bands such as Authority Zero, Fiction Plane, The Expendables, The Supervillians, Rehab, Passafire, Outlaw Nation, and The Parliament Funkadelic, winning the National MEISA (Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association) Battle of the Bands, finishing in the top 8 as a finalist to open Langerado through Sonicbids, receiving radio rotation play on all of Tallahassee's major rock stations and college stations, multiple headlining shows at Tallahassee’s largest music venues (such as Floyd’s Music Store and The Beta Bar), to writing, recording, producing, and distributing their first LP "All In" in less than a year as band, WFG has been working rigorously to spread their name and their music around Florida and nationwide over the internet.
Currently, Wait For Green is writing, rehearsing, and working on pre-production tracks before they head into the studio in June with BIELER BROS RECORDS (Nonpoint, Fiction Plane, Skindred, Stereoside) to record a brand new four track EP . With the music quickly spreading across the internet, a full length LP “All In” already available, a new EP entitled “Early Morning Light” in the works, and brand new merchandise, Wait For Green is doing everything they can to spread their musical message to new fans across Florida and to the rest of the world.
“I can see the light change from here, there’s no direction I fear.” Early Morning Light, WFG.
Stay tuned for more, because this is only the beginning.
come see us live. seriously.
