California based acoustic/ metal band, Waiting for Decay, hosts an authority in mass appeal for music aficionados. Waiting for Decay (WFD) has built up an authentic fan base. Their 752,000 + MySpace profile views is not the result of any friending tricks, or IP generated views. Like their sound, Waiting for Decay’s fans have supplied the band with the impending recognition they deserve.
Formed four years ago, Waiting for Decay is comprised of Dewayne Clifton, James Cottrell, Rik Bernotas, and "Z". Together the band’s unique acoustic sound corresponds well with the metal, southern blues, and pop influences brought forth by each talented and media-ready member.
Dewayne Clifton (vocals) went full force into music eight years ago. Starting off as a singer in a heavy metal band, Clifton made the transformation into the purist form of rock - acoustic music. As a self-trained singer his influences include Slipknot, Slayer and Sevendust. Dewayne Clifton is a bona fide artist who has a goal of recognition , not financial gain.
James Cottrell (drums) has a degree in music from The University of California, Riverside. With twenty-one years of skill under his belt, Cottrell started off as a self-taught musician whose collegiant training allowed him to pass on his knowledge to his own music students. James’ influences include Motely Crue, Poison and Metalica. Tommy Lee and Carter Beauford remain principal inspirations within Cottrell’s skin work. Touring with Waiting for Decay on a national level is the main goal for James Cottrell.
Rik Bernotas (bass) is the newest addition to Waiting for Decay. Two months into his partnership with WFD, Bernotas boasts fifteen years of experience in the music industry. A self-taught bassist, Rik’s influences include Megadeth, Motorhead, Anthrax, Steve Harris and Geezer Butler. Bernotas’ prior experience in heavy metal bands has developed into a desire to contribute to writing, and playing, to mass audiences on the world stage with Waiting for Decay.
"Z" (guitar) has been playing since age six. At age thirteen he played his first show at The Roxy on The Sunset Strip. Zepol’s musical influences include Chick Corea ,Miles Davis, The Ramones and NWA.
As a result of Waiting for Decay’s multi-versed appeal they have conjured an assortment of tour dates, radio interest, and multi-media press. In addition, the band is professionally represented with an active manager and recognized label. The band’s sound is often described in the press as hard-core metal with an acoustic filter, grunge, blues, and southern rock. All these genres not only fit Waiting for Decay’s radio pre sense, but scratch the surface of categories of which the band's sound can fit into.
Waiting for Decay has played at the infamous Viper Room, The famed Roxy, opened for L.A. Guns, opened for Adema at The Knitting Factory in California, are listed as one of Los Angeles’ top 100 rock bands, made “Top Artist” in several categories on MySpace (rock, metal, acoustic), released an album titled Arena for the Unwell in 2007, and owns feature quotes from writers with Skinnie Magazine, Music Connection Magazine, and Fresh Ink Magazine to name only a few of Waiting for Decay's foremost achievements.
Moving into the second half of 2009, Waiting for Decay has an aggressive touring schedule. The band’s label, Dirtbag Music Records, is working closely to license the band’s music for television and film. Dirtbag Music Records is shopping WFD for sponsorship deals to coincide with the band's upcoming album.
While the band is headed to the studio in September of 2009, TRP Music Group (represented with Tim Robinson) will be conscientiously promoting Waiting for Decay’s summer tour. Starting on June 26th through September of 2009, the band will be performing at music festivals and venues around the south-west part of The United States.
Waiting for Decay is not a band on the rise. Waiting for Decay is a band who has been recognized. Their accomplishments have brought their sultry cavernous sound, and multifaceted lyrics, to the forefront of their peaking career.
