Waldo Chavez was born in Germany but is a citizen of El Salvador. He Began his Musical studies at the New School in New York City. He later obtained a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Waldo has spent the last eleven years in New York City playing, recording, and touring with dozens of artists in several styles. He is founding member of the acclaimed Latin-Jazz band "Timbalaye." He has played in over 58 countries and has participated in most major Jazz festivals around the world including the North Sea Jazz Festival (Holland), Umbria, Torino, Salerno, and Bari (Italy), Leibnitz and Klagenfurt (Austria), Jazz Plaza (Cuba), Copenhagen (Denmark), Heineken (Puerto Rico), JVC (New York), Toros y Salsa (France), Montreal Drumfest (Canada), RWMF ( Malaysia), Mawazine (Morocco) etc.
Waldo is also a founding member of The legendary bomba & Plena band "Viento de Agua".
His Salsa and Pop Resume is literaly a "whos who" Including work with DLG, Jerry Rivera, Huey Dunbar, Willie Colon, La India, Obie Bermudez, Cano Estremera, Frankie Negron and many more. Mr Chavez also frequently works with theatre and dance companies Including Pepatian, Neo Labos and Pregones Theatre. With Pregones, he has participated in Baile Cangrejero, El Apagon, Fabulas del Caribe, Medea, Promise of a Love Song, The Red Rose and Betsy.
During the past 4 years Waldo has been Involved with an award winning educational program. (Multicultural Music Group).
