Diesen Job kriegt mit Sicherheit nicht jeder: 15 Jahre lang war Waldo Weathers Saxophonist bei James Brown, dem "Godfather of Soul". Noch drei Tage vor dessen plötzlichem Tod im Jahre 2007 stand er gemeinsam mit seinem Freund auf der Bühne. Für dasselbe Jahr war noch eine große Welt-Tournee geplant, zu der es leider nicht mehr kommen sollte. Zum Gedenken an James Brown fand eine gigantische Soul-Party statt, auf der Waldo Weathers an der Seite von Stars wie Michael Jackson seinen Chef verabschiedete.
Bereits im zarten Alter von zwölf Jahren stieg Waldo in seiner Heimat Kentucky in seine erste R'n'B-Band ein. Schon damals war überaus vielseitig, denn wenig später trieb er seine Karriere in Texas als Country-Musiker voran. Er gilt noch heute als der erste und einzige schwarze Country-Saxophonist. Natürlich ist ihm auch der Blues und die Gospelmusik bestens vertraut - der Nashville Music Guide sieht in ihm und seinem Instrument eine der besten R'n'B und Blues-Stimmen und vergleicht sein Spiel mit dem Louis Armstrongs an der Trompete.
Dieser musikalischen Flexibilität hat Waldo Weathers es zu verdanken, daß er mit so vielen bekannten Stars verschiedener Genres wie Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Dr. John, Bo Diddley, Al Green, Little Richard und Johnny Taylor die Bühne teilen durfte.

1995 wurde die US-Sängerin vom deutschen Rock- und Popmusikverband als beste Soul, Blues, Jazz Sängerin ev. mit dem "Musik Oskar" ausgezeichnet. Und wenn man die Ausnahmestimme dieser Powerfrau einmal gehört hat, dann weiß man augenblicklich, dass dieser begehrte Preis alles andere als grundlos an Soul-Diva Harriet Lewis vergeben wurde!
Zwölf CDs veröffentlichte die in Philadelphia geborene Sängerin Harriet Lewis im Laufe ihrer langjährigen Karriere nach ihrem Gesangs-Studium an der Musik Akademie in Philadelphia. Mit Größen wie Eric Clapton, Luther Vandross , The Weather Girls, Eric Clapton, Lisa Stansfield, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles oder Mariah Carey durfte sie alsbald die Bühne teilen - um nur einige wenige Namen von Musikern zu nennen, mit denen Lewis zusammenarbeitete. Tourneen absolvierte die sympathische Bluessängerin bereits in Japan, Afrika, Korea, Frankreich und den U.S.A.. Auf dem Programm stehen nicht nur Blues-Klassiker sondern auch jazzige, soulige und poppige Titel, sowie Eigenkompositionen.

Waldo grew up in Kentucky and at 12 years old, he was called to play with a group in a night club! The Saxman started out with rhythm and blues bands and when on to do Country music and when jumped to Smooth Jazz & Funk! And yes he does Gospel, dont you know!
Weathers was part of "The Godfather of Soul' James Browns" for 12 years & Charlie Pride has had Waldo blowing his sax and singing back up for 1o years on the country scene and he's also played with Johnny Taylor. He performs across the World with other artists.
As you can see, the Saxman is very versatile with his horns.
Waldo Weathers was awarded a letter being the First Black Country Sax Player ~~from the Country Music Hall of fame. Quite an honor!
The group gives their audience an entertaining performance with there wide range of vocals. Mr. Saxual Fulfillment himself rounds out the group on his sexy sax and his deep, smooth, sexy voice.
Nioshi Jackson, one of Waldo's sub drummers said, "It has been an honor and a pleasure. I learned many things from this untapped resource of music history in Nashville. It's been great to learn from him over the years."
