About me:
Our vision is a city safe for all children to ride a bike or walk to/from school. That's a city safe for all. On Monday, January 2, 2008 Trenton Watson was hit by a jeep in East Nashville and did not survive. We are saddened by the loss of a promising young boy in the community and extend our condolences to Trenton's family. Please join us in honor of Trenton for a bicycle safety clinic at the East Community Center from 10am-12:00Noon on Saturday, January 19. The first 50 children will receive a free bicycle helmet. Parents and children encouraged and welcome to come out and learn together. The only pedestrian & bicycle advocacy organization in the state of Tennessee, we work toward a more walkable, bikeable, livable Nashville. check out www.walkbikenashville.org for more information. Nik, Toby's Dad	May 7 2008 6:05 PM There a very few bike friendly roads in Metro Nashville and the MSA regardless of direction. I am in Sumner County and want to do BTW. But arriving at work in one piece is a priority. I was also not happy that my building, the L&C, says parking a bike there is not guaranteed secure. Anybody interested doing rides in Sumner/Robertson/North Davidson? Holler at me.
Greg L	May 6 2008 1:25 PM Guess I'll start the commute discussion here. I work different places on different days being freelance, but I've commuted from Green Hills to downtown Franklin a few times this past couple months. Most direct way is down Hillsboro. Hillsboro Rd between Harding and Old Hickory is sketchy though with a very small shoulder, if any and fast drivers. I tried a new route last week going through the residential area east of Hillsboro, then linking into Hillsboro at Old Hickory. This worked better for traffic concerns, but it was VERY hilly. Not something I'd want to ride every morning and night to and from work. There are no real easy, safe routes south of town towards Franklin. Hope we can work towards fixing this!! Looking forward to Bike To Work day friday and the TdN!!
