Heroes
real people. not the rich and famous. those that can overcome their biases and prejudices to help those in a time of need even at risk to themselves. they do this not for the accolades from others but because they can and because they want to. you will never hear them brag about what they have done for others. they perform their good acts quietly in the background and reap pleasure and satisfaction from seeing the recipient(s) benefit.

My life long dream has been a career in special effects makeup. However, when I was growing up that wasn't seen as a real career and girls were steered towards being a wife if she was pretty enough and if she wasn't then she should learn to type. I
lots of experience on amateur shoots. I will have my professional license in Skin Care and Makeup in March 2006.
I will be relocating to Maryland in January 2006.
Face4ward Makeup Artistry is owned by Karen Sidbury, a makeup artist based in Southern Maryland. She holds a license from the Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists as a Makeup Artist, and has received formal training from the Yvonne de Vilar Aesthetic School, The Esthetic Institute, and the Marlene Kurland Makeup Artist Academy. In additon to my formal training, I constantly supplements her training through books, seminars, and workshops.

I give a huge thanks and a big hug to some of these STARS that have helped me find my way back to my pathway: David Wiberg (future Oscar Winning filmmaker), Hadar Pitchon (future World Renowned Photographer and Indie filmmaker), Paul Oliver (future Horror & SciFi filmmaker), Laurence Green (future SciFi filmmaker), Jim Gonyea, Larry Goldsmith, Sarah Nold (thanks for being such a great and cooperative model! I expect to see you with your own vintage accessory store some day. I may need to buy/rent some items for a photoshoot.), Jordan Stone, and all of the great volunteer models who sat still long enough for me to paint their faces. Without you all, I would still be stuck in the routine 9 to 5 behind a desk!

Who I'd like to meet: Makeup Artist Extraordinaire Michael Westmore!, Billy B (done that!), DeShawn Hatcher (met her!), Michael DeVelis (met him), Pat McGrath, Jay Manuel, Tom Savini, and Kevin Aucoin if he were still with us.

I love Cali... but not the work situation! I still don't have a job and there aren't as many makeup gigs here. I'm going back to Univ. to finish up my graphics B.A. so I have something to fall back on. I'm even thinking about minoring in Photography.
How are you doing? How is the makeup going? We should both try to go to IMATS this coming year!!! What do you think?
