| Walls Of Heartache: General Info
|
| Member Since | 5/11/2006 | | Band Website | wallsofheartache.co.uk | | Band Members | Regular promoters/DJs Andy Strickland and Dave Duplock, plus local soul nuts Tim the Mod, Mark Ellis and Gary Crossing and monthly 'special guests'. | | Influences | An increasing array of 60s (mostly) soul sounds on original vinyl. We're fairly new to the scene (compared with some) but our collections are building at an alarming rate (just ask the bank managers)
Dave continues to chase those classic 60s sounds - a wide range of styles, while Andy increasingly finds himself drawn to the rnb sector of the genre.
A typical night at WOH will include classic, old stompers, rnb, mod soul, boogaloo ... just about anything really. We've even threatened to play the odd ska track this year. | | Sounds Like | The Orlons at a party with Major Lance with Rita & The Tiaras serving cocktails while Chuck Wood hands round the canapes | | Record Label | many and various US 60s labels | | Type of Label | Major |

| About Walls Of Heartache |
|
Walls Of Heartache opened its doors in January 2005.
The idea of the club is simple. We wanted somewhere we could go ourselves that plays great, classic soul/nothern soul music from the 60s, mostly, meet like-minded souls and have a drink and a dance on a Saturday night. Weve been collecting records for years and the only alternative was to set it up ourselves. Its been a great success from day one.
Apart from classic soul sounds on labels such as Motown, Cadet, Okeh and Stax, club goers can also watch old TV footage on the big screen of classic Motown acts and there are plans to put a 60s jukebox in the back room.
Ours is a night out for anyone and everyone who loves this great music. Every month we get a really friendly crowd - people who dont always want to travel into central London for club nights like this. Theres no House or modern rnb just old soul, Northern Soul and the odd bit of original rnb and 60s funk.
