Wally Ingram grew up playing music in Wisconsin, the land of beer, brats, cheese and the
Green Bay Packers! Early influences were Bart Starr, Vince Lombardi and Paul Hornung
as well as mother Dotty(quite a drummer in fact)
Wally was mentored in Madison by The Funky Drummer, Clyde Stubblefield himself
as well as legendary bassist/ educator Richard Davis.
First Band Sometimes Y was produced by Butch Vig along with Garbage pal, Steve Marker.
Butch(Nirvana/Smashing Pumpkins etc...) remains a great friend & just(Jan.'07) put on an amazing
benefit concert for me and my cancer battle with an incredible line up! See wallyingram.com for groovy details!
The hell with the third person stuff. I've just been given cancer free status and I
am so thankful to be alive and have so many wonderful, loving people in my life!
I've played in a ton of bands over the years. Let's see if I can recall a few...moved to LA
in 1985 to work with Kevin O'Neal of the BusBoys we also played with Tracy Chapman and
Brave New World. I was in Timbuk 3 for years and met Jackson Browne while playing at the 100th anniversary of Wounded Knee in South Dakota also met Bonnie Raitt, David Crosby and
Graham Nash that night and went on to work with all of them over time. Jackson introduced me to David Lindley and we toured and recorded together for over 6 years of wonderful
craziness! Through JB I also worked with Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin, James Taylor,
Jennifer Warnes, John Trudell, CSN, Warren Zevon, Bruce Cockburn etc.. wow to say that
he has had an influence on my career would be a huge under statement!!! Thanks Jackson!
I toured with Lowen and Navarro for abit before hooking up with Sheryl Crow with my buddy
Tad Wadhams on Bass for almost a 3 year wild ride which landed me playing 15 or so dates with Crowded House when Paul Hester Quit. That was cool!
This is a partial summary for now. I am about to do my first gig since before the cancer fun, with My High Desert pal Eric Burdon and my mates the Animals! Yes! To Rock Again
is a very very fine and good thing yes it is! I also am a member of Stockhom Syndrome with my dear friends, Dave Schools(WSP), Jerry Joseph, Danny Dziuck(now Danny Louis of Gov't Mule) and my Alektorophobia partner the extraordinary Eric Mc Fadden (EMT) Bye for Now.
Love
Wally
Happy Birthday Wally!!!! Eric's actually visiting us in Austin right now and we wanted to say Happy Happy Birthday ~ Salute! Love & Rock xoxo, Shaunna, Jeff, Sachi, & Jett.
No#1 I love you my brother and that will always stay the same or greater! No#2 I had a dream you were playing with WideSpread and you gave me some tickets and I brought my "NEW" child(Whew! like I need another gorgeous one) ANYWA I had a baby with me and we were sitting right up in the band pit and I was holding the baby up saying,"There's your Uncle Wally up ther p[alyin! See Him?" It was way cool and way 60'ish in nature...good family vibe type thing...When I have dreams you're in they're usually pretty cool....
come back, Wally, come back! We miss you here! and, yes, we did find your toothbrush... it worked quite well for cleaning the tiles in the front lobby. you can have it back when you return! ;)
Hey Wally - Thanks for the friendship! Music links us all
together. There are wars taking place in every country in the world. Some are
just more obvious. Check out my new video "Simpler Time". Reach out
and make a difference and the ripple will be felt around the world. It has to
come from within each of us. The alternative is unacceptable. Music can make a
difference. Keep reaching out.
Hey Wally Ingram, we just got out of the studio with Stephen Perkins of Janes Addiction....here are some of the songs we came up with...let us know what you think!!!!!
