| About WALRUS |
For the first time, the two young key figures of the tenor saxophone in Belgium, Toine Thys and Nicolas Kummert, unite their breath in a common project : WALRUS.
The particular instrumentation gives it a raw and powerful character, just as their homonymous marine.
The sounds of Nicolas and Toine sometimes blend in to one with the other, sometimes oppose, giving relief and an unique texture of their music.
With various original compositions from the four members of the group, they take the public in a trip made by surprises, humour and groove !
Thanks to the rhythmic section (Nicolas Thys on double bass and Karl Jannuska on drums), they play a music where energy and sublety come near. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
Pour la première fois, les deux jeunes figures de proue du saxophone ténor en Belgique, Toine Thys et Nicolas Kummert, unissent leur souffle dans un projet commun : WALRUS (“le morse”)
.L’instrumentation particulière lui donne un caractère brut et puissant, comme leur homonyme marin.
Les sons de Nicolas et Toine tantôt se fondent l’un dans l’autre, tantôt s’opposent, donnant du relief et une texture unique à leur musique.
.Avec des compositions originales variées des quatres membres du groupe, ils emmènent le public dans un voyage fait de surprises, d’humour et de groove!
Grâce à la complicité de la section rythmique (Nicolas Thys à la contrebasse et Karl Jannuska à la batterie), ils jouent une musique où énergie et subtilité se côtoient.
