Hello and welcome to Walsall Hospital Radio's MySpace Profile!
Walsall Hospital Radio is a small, volunteer radio station broadcasting internally to the good patients staying at Walsall
Manor Hospital. We are a registered charity (number 515708, if you're interested) and rely on the
financial support of the public to stay on the airwaves. With a team of around 25-30 unpaid presenters, admin staff and
fundraisers, it is our aim to provide those unfortunate enough to have found themselves in the hospital with the very highest
quality entertainment and to help make their stay a little more enjoyable.
Volunteering
Having first began broadcasting way back in 1978, Walsall Hospital Radio has a long history of providing first rate
broadcasts across the hospital and true to this legacy, our current staff are highly professional and dedicated to the
station's cause. Volunteering for Walsall Hospital Radio can be both fun and rewarding in equal measure, offering
participants the oppurtity to learn new skills, make some great friends and to experience the genuine buzz that they get when
the 'live' light illuminates and they know that they're making a positive contribution to someone's wellbeing.
Staff at Walsall Hospital Radio come from all sorts of different backgrounds, from the very young (17-18) to the very
'young at heart' (60+) with volunteer applications being happily accepted from anyone who shows real enthusiasm for hospital
radio and is willing to give a couple of hours a week to the station.
If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, you should firstly check out our website at www.walsall-hr.co.uk. You'll be able to learn all about what we do at Walsall Hospital Radio, how the station
operates and what happens when you first join the team.
The next step is to contact us by email at contact@walsall-hr.co.uk or
through one of the other means detailed on the 'Contact Us' section of our
website. We'll get back to you as soon as we can and if we think you have what it takes to be a staff member, we'll invite
you down to the studios for a tour and and a chat.
Fundraising
Walsall Hospital Radio recieves absolutely no financial support from Manor Hospital and so relies on the kind donations of
local people, businesses, and charitible institutions such as the National Lottery and Walsall CVS. Regular funds are
essential to help cover daily station costs e.g. equipment maintainance, replacements etc as well as to pay for things like
broadcasting licences and promotional drives.
You can help Walsall Hospital Radio and the patients it broadcasts to by making a donation, small or large, to the
station's funds. Doing so is easy and will help make a real difference to the many people in need of cheering up who tune
into our programmes on the wards. Perhaps the easiest way you can donate to the station is through the PayPal button below.
This will take you to our PayPal account (a form of online payment) from which you can make an instant donation using a
credit or debit card.
