About me:

Walthamstow Folk

Our main website is available here: Walthamstow Folk, giving our full programme, details of our history and how to get there.

The club meets on Sunday evenings at The Plough Inn, doors open around 7.15 - 7.30. When we've finished the sound check!

Please check the main website for full details: Walthamstow Folk

Standing Room Only

We are also running occasional Friday and Saturday night gigs which we're calling Standing Room Only. You may guess from the title that these will be run more like a rock gig - please don't expect to sit quietly and contemplate the music...

Don't forget there's lots of other great music at The Plough Inn. Check the pub website for details.

About us

Walthamstow Folk is run by Russ Chandler, Claire Chandler, Kevin Sheils and Sandra Murphy. This page is maintained by Claire.

Kevin also presents The Traditional Music Hour on Resonance Radio once a month. This is also syndicated to Radio Britfolk.

The Kittiwakes - CD Launch - Clerkenwell 22nd June

Leigh-on-Sea 3-piece,
The Kittiwakes, celebrate the release of their Midwich Records debut, ‘Lofoten Calling’, a collection of original folk songs written about the people, landscape, folklore and history of the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle and influenced by the traditional music of Norway and the British Isles.

'The Kittiwakes craft timeless and magical acoustically dappled folk treats - gentle and alluring ostensibly Gaelic in sound texture and gorgeously flighty braided as they are by corteges of mandolins, accordions and violins.' [LOSING TODAY]

'The Kittiwakes (rissa tridactyla): delicious, intriguing and evocative music, beautifully played and sung by this talented trio. Recommended to twitchers and lovers of folk music alike' [LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL]
